Dear Sir,
Recently, the Volkswagen Thane service workshop has shifted to a new location at Padwa Nagar, Wagle Estate. I visited the location on 18 Oct 2025, for addressing my car's accident. I was shocked to see this new location and how a reputed German auto company even approve such a location for its service center.
1. The service center is managed by Mody AutoCorp and is literally in the middle of a slum. The approach road, which is just one lane both ways, cuts across a slum with hutments on both sides. Driving the car itself is unsafe as people are walking, sitting on the road with hardly any place for the car to drive.
2. The slum population is illiterate and goonda type of people. What if they harm the people visiting the workshop even if the car slightly touches any one of them. If we leave the car at the workshop, it is unsafe to walk through the slum to reach the main road, as we will not get any other alternate transport at the workshop gate.
3. The safety of the cars parked in the workshop compound is also compromised. The goondas can easily over-power the workshop security personnel and commit theft or any other damage.
4. If there is a massive fire in the slum which is just next to the workshop (nowadays such fires are quite common), what is the safety of the cars in the workshop compound? Who is accountable for such losses?
5. Over and above all the infrastructure and size of the workshop is too cramped. Not enough parking space. Cars almost touching each other in a narrow compund.
Why would we even want to bring our cars to such a service workshop which is at an inconvenient and unsafe location.
Does Volkswagen even do any location audit, risk assessment, customer satisfaction for the location or do they just let the franchisee decide?
The earlier location was very convenient and with very good infrastructure and ample space.
It is really shocking, and I wonder if the global Volkswagen management team even sees the pictures of the infrastructure around this workshop what will they react?
Very disappointed with such a premium brand self-damaging their image.
Other customers at the workshop whom I spoke to, were equally disgusted on the above points. I am sure this will be followed by poor service quality of the car too.
Request you to immediately change this location or else you are going to lose customers in Thane and that's a certainty.
