Airtel — Save card feature should not be mandatory

I went to oay my bill in Airtel site on 25th Jan 2016. When I was about to do my payment using my Credit Card, it was mentioned that my card details will be saved by default. This is WRONG. Why should my card details be saved without my permission. It means that I can only pay using my Card only if I allow Airtel to save my Card details. This is ridiculous. Earlier, there used to be an option asking whether I want to save my card details. It has been removed and card information is being saved as default. It says it does have a feature to delete the saved card information, but my complaint is that the card information itself should not be saved by default. One could never know for sure if there is any backup or archive table in your database that still stores my information, even after I delete the card data. Mandatory saving of card data should be removed immediately. Airtel should make this change, and remove the default card saving feature immediately.

Yes, its really bad to save the card details without permission. It was asking permission till last month, but option disabled this month. I have already raised complaints to airtel.[protected]@airtel.com . I do not want my card details to be saved without my permission.

Are you illiterate? Why are you asking for airtel account number, contact number? His issue is common issue for all customer. Read it first and then reply. I am also facing the similar issue. Unable to delete saved card details.
The email id you have provided is not a valid one. Also the issue is in the common website design. Why dont you change that, even after receiving feedback from so many people?
I am still having the same issue.. At least the last before month, i had an option to delete the saved card information, , , But now i don't even have the option... I am on call with customer care where they don't even know where it is getting saved.

This is insane, Airtel is using your card details for their internal survey. Why the hell they are asking to put card details on their webpage to save ?

Stupidity on the highest with their reply, please share your account details, as if after getting the account details they would find this issue.

Thanks to gentleman for raising this concern, I am not using their website to pay the bill instead I am using other website like free, mobi, paytm etc.

It's very bad, they should have given a choice instead of mandatory save. They would say one option is given to clear that. But as far as customers are concerned we don't want Airtel ( or a stranger ) to store any of such info which is confidential as per me.

I think complaint should be made to RBI and Concerned banks, Airtel is an organisation which always believes in cheating customers, however I am surprised as to who gave the authority to save my credit card details to Airtel.

They said one can remove their saved card details from "My account> Manage cards section" but I did not find that option. Sadly saying I lost a trust in Airtel as they are trying to cheat their customers. Airtel, Do something about this issue otherwise you will loose our faith and some of your services soon.

There is no option to delete saved cards. It is a lie that you can "manage" saved cards.
To remove the saved card from Airtel site.
- Go to airtel my account website.
- Login with your username and password.
- Go to My Account >> click on view bill >> right hand side on the top >> Manage card
- Click on manage cards.
- Click on remove.
- Your debit/credit card detail will be removed from the site.

I just tried it and it worked

Thanks Venkat. I am able to delete the card using manage cards. But how real is that he deletes the card details from his system. this is like Hitler dictating, we have to save the card if we have to pay.

Saving card details forcefully shows your low ethics and questionable intention. You lost my trust and the first thing I do each time is remove card details. You are becoming cheats in multiple departments now which i will will hurt some day.
The worst site and have hidden the "manage cards" in unrelated menu option "bill details". Atel sucks...
This is 100% deliberate to hide it in unrelated menu option. Basically they want this card info...don't know what they are doing with it but something is there...Daal poori kaali hai.

Thoroughly disappointed by airtel site. By default it stores credit/debit card info without asking to confirm. Also didn't see any where how to delete or change card info. I guess they don't trust themselves. They think by retaining card information they will retain consumers other wise they will migrate to other operator such as Jio, Vodafone or Idea.
It's really suck to save my card without any information. Further, unable to find any option to delete my card. Can anyone please help?
