[Resolved]  General Motors India — Pathetic Dealer and after sales (Shreyans Talera)

I don't know if this is the right place to write my experience with General Motors so far. But Here I go.

GM, you should take this seriously. Because lots more like this is going to float over the internet for this dealer.

I really do not want to point the finger to GM but I would like to get their attention to their dealers and the after sales service provided by them. (After sales, if any)

This is about my bad experience about the dealer here in Pune, Shreyans Talera.
I got delivery of my vehicle (Chevrolet Aveo) in May 2008. And the problems started even before the delivery of the vehicle. I would discuss that as well but later in this post.

Yesterday, I handout my vehicle to them for first free service. Wait, The showroom is only 7km away from my home but the service center is 28km. I called them and the lady said that I need to drop the vehicle at the service center or they will pick up the vehicle from my place. I really do not believe on the driving skills of their drivers as I've seen a guy yelling on them when he saw scratches on his new car on very first day of delivery

So, I took the vehicle to my office from where there service center is only 5 km. So after calling 2 times to the service center even after appointment taken in one day advance, the driver came at 11.15 AM to my office to pick the vehicle, he inspected the car for any previous scratches. Luckly (not any more) thanks to my careful driving and personal maintainace I didn't have a single scratch. Though he found one hairline on the bonnet and marked it in his sheeet. I was ok with it.

Now the story started. When I got the delivery of my new vehicle, I noticed after a week that my car's right side indicator is loose and filled in with water. I took the car to the dealer and they said it's a manufacturing defect and will be rectified in first service. So, I asked the driver to make a note of this and he flee off takin my vehicle.

Now at 1.30 PM, I got call from their supervisor and he said that side indicator cannot be replaced free. I was like, fish. I have the COO (Cashless owernship offer) and it was the manufacturing defect. Do they mean that I played with the indicator and pour water on it. Am I freak? I asked him to talk to his Manager even the dealer and get back to me. He said he will call me in 15 mins. He didn't turned up so I called them again at 4 PM and the lady said "Sir, the supervisor will call you in 1 hour and the vehicle will be delivered in 1 hours time". I was waiting for their call till 5.45 PM. Ohh, did I mentioned that work hours end at 5 PM? Anyway, I called them again at 5.55PM and the lady got the supervisor on call and he said that he will call me in 15 mins. I was waiting for their call till 6.30 PM and I realised that these guys are making a fool out of me. I took my office cab and started towards their service station.

On the way I was trying to call them and no one was picking up the phone. I reached their around 6.50. And to my surprise the service center was closed. There was only person left. My car was right there, I asked him about the status and he said the showroom closed at 6 PM. (Just 5 mins after the guy said he will call me in 15 mins.) Obviosly, I blasted. So he called up the supervisor and he was there only wondering somethere. and he had NO explanation to anything. He said there was a lot of LOAD. Which no one told me entire day. No one turned up with the status of the vehicle even though I called.

The supervisor said, your indicator cannot be replaced free, as the store manager refused it.. you take the vehicle and we will do it in next servicing. (This is the second time I got this answer, first time I got it while first 1000 km service). I asked why he did not informed me in the afternoon. No answer. Why you didn't call me when you said you will call me in 15 mins. No answer. How should I go home without the vehicle from this freaking isolated place. No answer.

By god's grace, their Manager dropped in at the service center, who is incharge on that service center.
I should say, the person was nice and polite. He assured me that the indicator will be replaced under warranty as it's General Motor standard. GM is known for its quality car and all. He said his service van will come to my place in the morning and will replace the indicator.

The supervisor handed me over the job sheet and again to my surprise it was on some other's name with my Car number on it. The manager asked him to change and he didn't know how to do it. So the manager told me that he will send the corrected bill in the morning with the service guy. I took the car and came home.

How many mistakes and ignorance so far? Keep counting.

I just woke up this morning and went down to see if the work is carried out as per my expectation. And what I saw, a preety scratchy vehicle. Few visible scratches near front wheel, side doors. I know they are not going to accept it and I would need to live with them. I cannot explain them how good I care for the vehicle. Since past 5 months with 4400km not a single scratch on vehicle. And with just a distance of 5-6 km. 3-4 visible scratches. Now you know, why I said that the driver flee away taking my car.

I am preety much disappointed looking at my car. The car is not cleaned properly, its still dirty inside.
I really feel like going to the service station and shooting like every guy who touched my car. After all it's my hard earned money, carelessly handled by some crazy people.

GM, what should I do? Can you see my frustration? I am so restless after looking at my car in the morning. I started typing out this post out of frstration.

If you do not take my concern seriously, I want to assure you that I would NEVER ever recommend anyone a GM car. Even though you make great cars, they are difficult to maintain with such dealers.

I regret today at my decision, I should have gone for Honda City or Verna but ...

Now what I'm gonna do? I am gonna wait for the guys to come and change the indicator with the correct documentation. Till that time, I am gonna get my WAX polish and will try to clean up the mess they have created.

GM SALES CORP — NOT DELIVERED

Dear Sir,
I purchased a SPARK in May 2008, from your Dealer MS S.L.Oberai & Co, Dehra Doon. During the first service they damaged the bonut of my car which they acknowledged & promised to repair free of cost. since it was raining during that period, so, they adviced me to get the repair done at the time of 2nd service, which they gave me in writing. Also, during the time of delivery they had promised to do 3 Teflon coatings free of cost at 6 Month interval each, which they also acknowledge in writing & which they later refused to do.
When I went for the 2nd service of my car the dealer refused to do the needful. I am not a resident of Dehra Doon.
Since General Motors is a very reputed company and I hope & presume that you or your dealer will not back from your Promise.
kindly advise your dealer to do the needful & maintain the Integrity of the Organisation.

I own a Chevrolet Optra am located in Mumbai ( [protected] / 28259084 /[protected] Address : 16, pioneer Indl estate, Subhash Road, jogeshwari (East), Mumbai 400060 . The car has run around 45000 kms and i am having serious complaint about the superior Engineering you claim . The vehicle is being repaired at Bharati Automobiles, ogeshwari, Mumbai . I have now received a repair bill of Rs 28, 000 approx . My vehicle break liner had broken and therewas a problem with the AC cooling cut off (details may be taken from Bharati Automobiles) .
Some eight months back there was a problem with Steering rack pinion assembly and that time replacing whole kit was quoted at Rs 45, 000 . If the vehicle is going to bring such kind of expenses in such short intervals, then Bye to Chevrolet . I havetried to get Mr. Kochars numbers to speak abot thesame, but i was toldthat only E-mail address can be given, irequested for contat nos butwas refused politely . I have not ollected my vehicle yet and it is still lying with them . Can you oplease get into the roots of the problemsand come back tome . This is getting very frustrating if i haveto keep on spening money inthis fashion for repairs . I will be picking up my vehileonce you may conact me .

i have booked Model: Tavera 5+1, white color vehicle at M/s. Jayaraj Karz, Tiruchirappalli- 620 012, Tamil Nadu on 24. 04. 2009 and paid advance amount of Rs.50000/- on the same day. So far i was not received any communication abovt when vehicle will be delivered to me. In spite of repeated call I am not received proper communication from Dealer. Kindly ( immediately ) inform when you can deliver the vehicle. In fact at the time of booking the vehicle it was informed by the delar that the vehicle will be delivered with in 15 days time, but it passed more than 25 days. based on the assurance of delivery, i got the vehicle loan from Syndicate Bank, Tiruchirappalli. and i am loosing the interest with out availing the facility. Kindly arrange to deliver the vehicle immediately.

General Motors Optra Magnum 1.6 — Defective Paint

I bought a Optra 1.6 L Magnum sedan. As I just moved here from the USA, I expected great service, and a great product. However after a lengthy delay in delivery (even after paying for the vehicle in full up front), the car which was delievered has a severe paint defect. The dealer offered to deliver the product to my home (Mumbai) at about 8 pm on a Friday. On Sunday/Monday when I was washing the car, and when I opened the front bonnet and the rear trunk/deck I noticed that the underside of these body panels were of a different color than my car. The car is black in colour, and the under side of the bonnet and the truck are pure white -as if they were never painted and only had the primer paint from the factory. At first I thought the dealer had tempered with the car by changing these body panels due to damage in transit. However after further inspection it is evident that the issue is from the factory/manufacturer and not the dealer. Even the inside of the entire engine bay has not been painted black and only the primer paint coat is visible. Mr. Sandeep Deshmukh (area manager, after sales) from the GM corporate Mumbai office personally came by to see the vehicle after my complaints to the dealer and he informed me a week later that this is typical as its a new paint process for the car from the factory. I had a hard time believing him and simply asked him to provide a hard copy written letter from GM signed by a VP or Director level person that this is a fact. I have not heard from anyone from GM in about week and no one is now answering phone calls.

Can someone explain to me what rights consumers have in India on unfair practices from auto dealers or manufacturers? Is there a central govt. agency or state agency which can help? Any media contacts I can speak to? Any advice on the matter? Does anyone know of a VP or Director level executive at GM corporate with whom I can speak with? Customer service is not something that is well respected in India, and ultimately the customers suffer tremendously due to ruthless practices from corporate greed as a main stay.

I completely agree with you, but there's more. I am in NCR and here's a dealer Shiva Motors. No AC in customer lounge for ages, and it is so small that even if you want to stay while your car is being worked upon, you have no choice but find alternate. Most o[censored]s wait at Bikaner Sweets nearby. If the power fails, no generator facility and their computers go down as well (so, no power backup for computers either!!!). You are made to wait long even after your car job card has been okayed, today my car got okayed at 1430 hours IST, and the car was delivered only at 1600 hrs. Reason? Either the supervisor is lost somewhere or the guy who worked on it, or the power has failled, or the credit card machine is not working.

When I initially took my car, it gave me an exceptional 20.2kmpl on flat highway and 18.88kmpl on Nainital mountain terrain. The fuel pump remains same, the driver remains same, the driving sense remains same, but the fuel efficiency dropped after first service to 14.3 kmpl. I had taken my car to service station almost 7 times, and they do spend hours working on it (WORKING!!!) but the mileage never got up. I have had 3 services for this car (I have Spark LT) and the mileage never went above 14.3 kmpl again. As checked today, the mileage came out as 14.27 kmpl again. With all the hours I have spent in the service station, now I have come in terms with the fact that these guyz can't do any better, and I have taken this mileage as standard... lol...

Chevrelot Spark — Water leakage inside the car when ever rain

I took my vehicle Noida sector-8 GM service station for the same complaint again and again almost 3 times, But the service was very poor and worst, till now the problem was not identified and I am totally suffering with the complaint . I am afraid it may spoil the car.

Please advice how would I go or complaint against them.

i had done a work of rs 34000 in PANDEY MOTOR, PATNA and after that my cars engine sized after 3000km. and the dealers are blaming on us, that was ur fault. this is really very pathetic.
Did you call the GM helpline? I'm having some seriously stupid experiences after 3 years of almost no trouble ownership of an aveo 16. The GM helpdesk guys come across as quite helpful out n out.. any experience there?
Bought an optra 1.6 from dynamic motors chandigarh in 2004
the vehicle has done only 39000 kms so only 2 paid services.
OBSERVATIONS:


1. These are probably the most expensive cars to maintain
2. While selling they dont tell you the actual servicing costs.
3. Even in minor problems which can be fixed from outside workshops provided you have good quality spares they insist on changing the entire assemblies.

On the first paid service they called up and told me that the windshield washer is not working and we will have to change the motor or whatever it is called.

They opened it removed it and guess what they did not have any new ones in stock.
Why did they open it in the first place ??

My air direction knob on the dash board is not working and I got a quote of 5000 for the same
the garage next to my house that chap did the same for 35 rupees.

On the 2nd paid service which happened to be a couple of days back they told me that the V-belt needs to be changed and I gave them the go ahead for it and guess what after openening the belt and the tensioner and wrestling with the old belt and opening the cracks on that further more -- I was told that it is out of stock.
Bang on the same experience as the first service.

Ive heard from the posts that the expected cost of the 60K paid service is almost 30 K, add another 30K for other expensive useless bits of plastic which will come apart here and there.
Cost of harassment -- Priceless.

I spent 6-7 hours till late evening to hear that the belt is not in stock and it is not advisable to drive the car.

v-belt which changes every 30k kms is a very vital piece of equipment i dont believe it.
Theyre worse than Daewoo.

Its been 2 days and I havent recieved a call from the service centre, not to forget that the car is not in a driveable condition and I am immobile.
Scant regard for the customers.

And I forgot:
The service centre did not give me a bill .
They didnt even give me the actual bill or the list of the parts that they have replaced but I do remember the prices and they are almost 30 % more than the actual prices.
I dont even have the old replaced parts, this is a practise from the days of maruti.
they gave me a paper with the discription of my car (which was b4 service) and half of it was a gate pass.
Very very dodgy accounting.

They dont let you near the car ... I dont trust a service station which doesnt let me near the car when they are working on me .
Well its my car, and I am paying you to do it, where does it say that I have to abide by your rules.

I was buying a chevrolet spark but going through the forum and my own experience.. which is a blessing in disguise as I happened to go to the service centre just 1 day before buying the small car. (Thought it will be ok for the city). I just saved my money -- i am now going to settle for the old friend-- MARUTI.

I dont know if they even read it and all but well they should realise that loosing customers like this is definitely not good
I am never going to recommend a chevy or a GM product to anyone rather given half the chance I shall be discouraging them.

I own SPARK LS car which I purchased on 26 April 2009. On dated 19th September 2009 I met with an accident and my car was towed to the (GENERAL MOTORS' AUTHORISED WORKSHOP) i.e.TRUMPH MOTORS Jahangir puri Delhi. Today its'28th to November 2009 and vehicle is still in the workshop for the one excuse to other, even though Insurance company had given go-ahead to the repairs at once, after the accident. Even I have made numerous calls to the call center of Chevrolet 30308080 and my complaint was registered by them after making so many calls on 13th of OCTOBER 2009 vide complaint No.15137 after that I made number of calls and I was told that they will speak to the workshop and tell me the status of my car but till today nobody bothered to tell me the status of repair. I had spoken to Mr.Ajit, Mr. Ashish and others presently I am spending Rs.600 daily to attend my office from Ashok Vihar, Delhi to Noida (UP) and back.
Now I request the Chevrolet Motor India to ask to workshop M/S TRUMPH MOTORS to get my car DL-2CAJ-1831 repair and I am also thinking to file a complaint to the consumer court for deficiency of service against GENERAL MOTORS as well as to TRUMPH MOTORS to compensate me suitably for deficiency of service as well as mental agony caused to me.
An early action in this regard is highly solicited please.

I own 2006 model Aveo, purchased from Frontline Automobiles Mangalore, with one year extended warranty ever since the date of purchase, I had a creeking sound underneath front portion which was complained to the dealer, which was not rectified (rather which could not be detected by the dealer) and when the customer care centre called from Delhi, the said complaint was also lodged with the company and then no response.

It is since about 31/2 years, that, I am driving the said AVEO with the said music and every time I visited the dealer at Mysore, TRIDENT Automobiles, I had to complain about the said sound and they use to oil the Arm and send me back stating that nothing is wrong and even, I had called a mechanic from Mysore to my place at madikeri which is about 120 KMs from Mysore to check the said sound who said no problem and charged me Rs.850/- and even thereafter the said dealer was saying n problem.
On[protected], when I went to the said Trident Autombolies for 25, 000KM service, once again I complained about the said sound and then I was told that two arms are to be replaced and it costs Rs. 6, 500/-. when I informed the service advisor that the same has to be replaced free of cost since my complaint is very old it was not agreed to and nobody was attending my complaint except the said service advisor and to my utter surprise, my complaint was lodged only once and thereafter, very cunningly, the said Trident Automobiles had left out to mention my said complaint in job card or in their records.

Thus, the said dealer and the company was waiting for expiry of warranty period and even though my complaint was pending with the company and dealer, I had to get the said parts replaced by paying the price therefor.

Less said about the service at Trident Automobiles. instead of going to them, it is better to get the work done through a road side mechanic, who in my opinion will do better work than the dealer. If I keep on saying the story will never end, my 31/2 years experience with GM and Trident Automobiles is very disgusting, Now, I feel the services provided by Premier Automobiles Limited, was much better than these persons

i had met an accident of my car some twenty days back and there were some little bit scratches to my car . on the same day i went to one o[censored]r authorised workshop duly in the name of K .C motors situtated in jammu [ J&K State] who tried to set right the scratches by claiming Rs 7000 from insurance company when i inspected my car i was puzzled after seeing the finesh of the paint and new scratches developed during work done by the inefficient mistries working in the workshop i tried my best to contact the concerned manager but all in vain as no body was ready to rectify the mistake . in short if such inefficient persons will continue to look after the misires o[censored]r esteemed custmers it will be a big loss to such reputated company

general motors — Pathetic servcie

The servcie centre of the company is not ready to provdie any servcie.
My battery has ceased and for past few days i am contcting teh servcie centre in Chandigarh and punchkula none of them is giving me any positive respoonse and i am in a mess without a car and service.

G M MOTORS INDIA — cheating by authorised dealer

i have purchased a CEVEROLET BEAT LT car from M/s CROSSROAD AUTO KANPUR (U P)at jan 22.AT the time of booking the car a quation prvide me for the price insurance r t o & cashless mentinance scheem from G M MOTARS INDIA to cover allscheem wear & tear for three years with pick & drop facility and chargrd for the same Rs 15000/. It is very good scheem for the owner .with this scheem i purchased car.At present dealer totaly refuse for it and asked to me there is no scheem you can refund your money which is chaged by the dealer at the time of sale the car.At this i have talk yo Mr AMIT RANJAN who is in key post with G M MOTARS INDIA on phone but he said Company not providethe same scheem. at dealer point manager said i cannot do any thing to you. Please shortout my problem
I also faced the similar issue with SHIVA MOTORS Ghaziabad. It was a pathetic experience and all the happiness for owning a new car vanished.

I infact wrote a letter to the only email Id available on the website and to add up to all the grievances nobody replied.

With all bitter experiences which have been faced by me from the day1, I would request you to kindly look into the pathetic sales experience which a customer faces while purchasing a CHEVY.

I booked my dream CHEVY AVEO on 31st of May 2010 from SHIVA AUTOS, Ghaziabad. I still feel very sad remembering the day I booked car from Shiva auto. I was purchasing Hyundai Accent on 30th of May, but due to non availability of the car, I was clearly told NO by the dealer of Hyundai. That day I was frustrated by the attitude of saying NO to the customer by Hyundai dealer but today I feel he was far better and a man who cares about the brand, rather earning a dissatisfied customer and bad experience. I called up straight to Shiva Auto which is the only available CHEVY dealer in my vicinity, that I want to go for AVEO and when can I get the car. I was told that it will be delivered in 2 days time.

Next day (31st May) I went with my father to the dealer, there I met Mr. Devender Pundhir(Sales Guy) and he insisted me to book the car same day, as he was not clear about the new deals which wil be coming on the car from 1st of June. He actually helped me in driving to my bank located in New Delhi for the car down payment of INR 164000approx. I was bit reluctant after seeing the person eagerness in getting the car booked. But I guess it all happened as GOD thought to give me more troubles. I was then asked and pressurized by the sales guy to purchase AVEO in Light Gold color. Which I rejected and finally gave my confirmation on SAND Drift Gray color on 31st at around 3;00 PM, with a confirmation from the sales team that car will be delivered to me in 10 -11 days maximum, as the color is not available.

After this I was happy that I booked the CHEVY and I will get the delivery by 10th of June. But my trouble started when I called up Shiva motors on 8th of June asking for the status of the car, I was told that the car will get delayed by 2 days and will be delivered to me by 12th of June. As 12th was Saturday and in our religion we avoid taking any new thing made of Iron o Saturday I asked them to provide the same on 13th of June. But to my all astonishment I was told on 12th by the Sales Manager Ms. Pratima that it will take another 15 days for delivering the car. As order for the car has still not being sent across and that it will take minimum of 15 days. After talking to her, she said that she will talk to her GM and will check if some other dealer is having the same color, then the same will be provide to me from them. After request made to her she told me that she will give me the new scheme of free accessories of 8000 free with AVEO. Already in the file I was getting an MP3 free, for which she said same will be changed with the new scheme.

On 13th of June I was told that a car with the requested color has been located and will be provided to me by Wednesday. To my astonishment I was told on Wednesday that they are still unable to locate the car. As I leaving for a pilgrimage on Wedneday Night I asked them to provide me the car ready by 21st of June as I will be back on 20th night. I had a talk with Mr. Anurag who is DGM sales for the store that I will get the car on the said day. But my nightmares didn’t end up on 21st also, I got to know car is ready but CNG is not fitted. Delay was because of cylinder shortage. Now I was asked to get the car back to showroom on 23rd morning, so that CNG could be fitted. Also, I told them to place the free accessories as discussed with their Sales Manager. But as usual they denied the same. After talking to Mr. Anurag he gave a signature on the same. While taking the delivery I saw certain scratches on my new car on the left rear door and one scratch on the right rear bumper. For the scratches, I was told that when the car will be sent across fro CNG fitment, after that they will get the rubbing done and all those scratches will be removed.

As decided I delivered the car on 23rd Morning at around 09:25 at Shiva. Only good thing that happened was that I was provide with a replacement for my daily routine in form of CHEVY Spark for 2 days.

Today is 26th of June and I am still waiting to get the delivery of my car, so that I can take my family out on my weekend, which is already finished by the virtue of SHIVA motors. Now after all the discussion I am getting to know that I will get the delivery on 27th June post lunch. Which I am not sure that I will get or not.

With all the bad experiences I had faced and still facing I would request you to kindly help other customers, which might be going through the same level of frustration from CHEVY dealer like Shiva Motors. This actually is bringing bad mouth to the brand of CHEVORLET in India.

To add up dealer didn't bothered to get hte car washed before giving it back to me. That too after so much of hue and cry this was actually the worst experience I could have with Chevorlet.

THEN I CONTACT TO Mr. KATHIRAVAN SALEM G.M.SHOW ROOM,HE TOLD ME WE UNABLE TO HELP YOU, BECOZE KARUR AREA UNDER THE ERODE DIVITION....!, AFTER I CONTACT ERODE SHOW ROOM REPLAY IS "WE HAVE NO STAFF NOW, THEY ARE BUSY...! NEXT DAY I CONTACT AGAIN SALEM ;TO Mr. KATHIRAVAN. HE SAID TO ME "TODAY SUNDAY, CANNOT ABLE TO COMMING KARUR, TOMORROW I WILL TRY".

G.M. IS A NO;1 IN THE WORLD, BUT TAMILNADU BRAKE DOWN DEPARTMENT'S SERVISE IS VERY BAD. (TRICHUR & PALAKKAD MANAGERS SUPPORT TO ME THROUGH MOBILE)
