respected sir, I have received a mail and sms (first) that i have won award of 700, 000.00 British pound from Dr Moris Ray (email-id [protected]@hotmail.com) on behalf of company GUINNESS, ADDRESS-22 GARDEN CLOSE STAMFORD LINCE PE92YP (www2.guinness.com) they have mailed us to pay 630 British pound to bank account in India. the account no will be provided by person named TERRY WATSON employee of British consulate at New Delhi. they have provided me batch number and reference number and also MOBILE number of TERRY WATSON AND EMAIL-ID. kindly sir verify it whether it true or false. with high regards thanking you. Dear All,
On the eve of 12th May, 2009 I received a text message from [protected] announcing that my fortunes had changed and I was now the recipient of 700, 000 Great British pounds as part of the Guinness Award Promotion, 09 held by the Guinness Company. I was asked to contact their agent, a certain Mr David, to find out further details. When I did so, Mr David asked me to get in touch with the Diamond Security Courier Company for the remittance of the award cheque to India. In fact, they had offered me two options; the first one involved the transfer of funds through the Reserve Bank of India and the second one involved delivery of the award cheque at my doorstep. Interestingly, I was supposed to keep this matter secret as, in their words, it might lead to ‘inappropriation of funds’ and possible ‘double claim’. I chose option one and Mr David informed that in order to complete the above mentioned process I was to send a copy of proof of identity along with the designated bank account number for the transfer of funds immediately. Soon after that, I emailed a scanned copy of my driving license and the bank account number.
Diamond Security Courier Company flooded me with repeated congratulations and was quick to inform that I was now to send them 630 Great British pounds as service fees, which when converted to Indian Rupees is about 48000 approximately. They took the name o[censored]K diplomat John Holmes in Chanakyapuri, Delhi. They added that we were to deposit funds as early as possible in a local bank a/c provided by Mr Holmes, thereby hastening the process of remittance of the award cheque from their end. We were told that their personnel would send the cheque post the production of the receipt of the funds deposited.
At this juncture, several bells were ringing and it seemed that their correspondence had several glaring glitches. When we called the British High Commission in Chanakyapuri, Delhi, a lady informed us politely that there was no man by the name of John Holmes. An email was sent from our end to Diamond Security Courier Company urging them to send a copy of their proof of identity. Then we reminded them that they were aware of the rules and regulations prescribed by the Indian Government for the transfer of funds and we wanted the transfer of funds to be conducted in the way that is approved by the Govt of India. Also, we sent another email to the UK diplomat John Holmes requesting his proof of identity stressing on the fact that we didn’t wish to break any rules. We stated that we were law-abiding citizens and did not wish to jeopardise the security of our lives. This prompted them to call us immediately from the following number, [protected]. A man with a thick African accent spoke to us, emphasising on the fact that we must deposit funds immediately in order to receive the prize money. He refused to provide any proof of identity and assured us that this is the most genuine thing that has ever happened in the history of mankind. We were told that this was televised in local channels too and we were being too inquisitive.
John Holmes, the diplomat in question, replied on time with the next set of instructions. The local bank account was from ICICI Bank, Delhi Branch, viz. a/c no[protected], Abid Traders, PAN no. BEKPK9614P. This was the local account meant for the transfer of funds. He advised us to ‘not be afraid’ and obey the simple instructions.
When we googled Diamond Security Courier Company, the search results revealed that they were part of a Nigerian Advance Fee Fraud. Not that it surprised us but we must admit that this caused a great deal of concern because these people have access to a copy of my driving license as well as my bank account number.
This begs the question - how is it possible that they had access to my personal cell phone number? The website records several instances of Guinness Company and all their correspondence, as you know, contains numerous references to the Guinness Company. I cannot imagine that a well known company can endorse such an outfit. Is it possible that they are not aware of such activities being carried out in their name?
I implore the readers to be cautious of such fraudulent enterprises. A great deal of concern arises from the knowledge that they have access to our personal details, even cell phone numbers. This means that these cell phone numbers have been sold to third parties, who now have access to a huge database across the world. Not only does this translate into the end of privacy but it also means that the mockery of innocence can continue unhindered.

Now a days such type of SMSes, Emails are very frequent and in abundance. Security Agencies related with internet frauds should look into the matter seriously and initiate suitable action against such Persons / Agencies.

If all this is genuine British Embassy can contact the claimant since they already got the address / contact details and can involve Government of India, should send such Documents to them for verifying the Claimant's credentials / identity. Why a claimant should contact a Courier Company or its Employees.
There appears to be a fraud racket going on large scale to cheat the innocent people by robbing their hard earned money.
