[Resolved]  Tata Motors - Indigo Manza — Poor product

In the month of December I bought Manza from Sterling motors, Noida. Till date I have driven 4000 km but the highlight of the duration has been 2 biggest replacements – Fuel Pump & Gear box.
I had booked Suzuki Dezire but just one day before delivery I cancelled my booking and picked Manza but I think that was the biggest mistake I made. Within first 1500 km the fuel pump stopped working and I got stuck with my family at a highway. Fortunately it was in Delhi, I got help from the service team and next day they had to replace fuel pump. After 3500 km the gear box developed some problem, after thorough checking by team from Pune they replaced the gear box as well. It’s been just one day I got my car back after gear box replacement, there is yet another problem cropping up with engine and hopefully the service guys will check the car and try to fix the problem.
During this period of my sufferings & agony, only positive part was after sale service. They have tried to offer me best assistant and have given really fantastic services but they also can’t prevent me from facing these issues because the product itself is so bad.
I would love to get this particular piece replaced with a new one as it’s a pretty new car. Please help

Indigo Manza — Emission compliance

Hello Sir,
I am planning to buy the recently launched Indigo manza, diesel version for long run use. I came to know that it's BS III compliant. I am staying in Bangalore and there will be 11 cities in India to be BS iV compliant by April next year. So does this mean that Tata will produce another better vehicle after 5 months. Should I wait for this ???

Thanks
Satyanarayan Nanda
I am told that the sapphire and quadrajet(Fiat fire & multi jet ) engines are even euro 5 compliant. As far as the manza engine goes i am told that are the features are already built into the engine and when the company applies for compliance certification all the cars with the same engine should also automatically become compliant(sounds logical) hope it is so.unless tata declares to have made major modifications to the engine for the sake of compliance
If you were told by salesman of Manza..then it could be the trick as well... just do internet search and try to find out if it's BSIV compliance or not?
mr. puneet, its sad that you had faced such difficult times with the car. I had also bokked a manza, i am still positive about the product, still as you had used it, i cant comment on what ouy are saying. i want TATA to solve all your problems hoping there is no more to come. I have faith in TATA and i will still go with it. HOPE TO FIND EVERYTHING FINE IN FUTURE.
tata cars are total , pls dont ever buy tata cars, they are as good as driving trucks
I too had the same faith with Tata, but I had faced similar problem with manza I bought from Trivandrum, Kerala. The gear box & fuel pump had to be replaced as the car stopped with low pickup. Its a surprise that this happened in the second day. Its just waste of money buying this car. Now I realise why people are not opting indian made cars. The interiors plastic are of very low quality. My friends say its as bucket plastic :o). May be other tata cars are good, but Manza model is a failure - So dont waste your money dear friends
very unfortunate for puneet & kutty. i tested a manza diesel on 10-04-10. i too failed to push in the 5th gear 4 out of 5 times. & its supposedly a fiat gear box! the quality of plastic etc could have been better, but then the price wouldn't have been the same! tata has done a good job, but my worry is that they're trying to lure the customers (like my wife) with excellent but secondary features while as far as the basic engine goes, the customer is the guinea pig. coz of the rs. 1 lakh difference with the diesel variant, i want to test a petrol variant now. even then i'm having second thoughts about a petrol car from tata motors. would welcome advice.
I totally agree with puneet, we got Brand New Tata Manza on Feb 10, and recently on Saturday 8th May, while driving on highway suddenly the engine stopped down (god sake got avoided the massive accident and suppose to die with the family) and the KM driven is 1465. Tata Service team had given good support within 1hr time, unfortunately the service team tried to check Fuse at all levels, at last they declared that the fuel was not injecting to the engine as the "FUEL PUMP is Burnt" as it has to be replaced at showroom and got towed up to Bangalore back & please note they could not able to provide temprorary service or alternate four wheeler to ahead further, had to take private vehicle from Bangalore till midway where the car breakdown. At last we have to pay hugely buying Tata Manza in terms of money & Time for the Brand New one's-Giri
We have purchased Indigo Manza Registration No DL 10 C 1678 Model No. Quatra Jet Aura Plus during April 2010.

We regret to inform that there has been complaint from the time of delivery of car. The first complaint was about the poor air-conditioning. It took lot of time for you to understand that the Air Conditioning duct of the car was not open and that is the reason for poor airconditioning. In the process of repairing the air-conditioning system there were scratches on the bumper and we were assured that it will be either replaced or repaired.

When the car was given for servicing after completing 5000 km your company took almost a week for servicing and small bumper repair job. After that service we have noticed that there is something still wrong with the car. The air-conditioning is not effective. There is some problem of alignment when we drove the car at 100 - 110 km / hour there was lot of vibration. We noticed that because of this poor alignment there is also wear and tear on the driver’s side front wheel.

Tata Motors claims the fuel economy of more than 21 km/ltr of diesel but what we are getting is below 15 km / ltr (as per the meter display of the car) of diesel on highway.

Can we have the prompt and satisfactory response.

TATA MOTORS, INDIGO Manza — POOR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION

DEAR SIR,
I PURCHASED TATA INDIGO MANZA FROM GARYSON MOTORS MOGA ON 23.7.10 AND GOT THE VEHICLE INSURED FROM THEM ON THE SAME DATE BY ICICI LOMBARD . MY CAR MET WITH AN ACCIDENT ON 8.8.10. I PARKED THE VEHICLE IN THEIR SERVICE STATION FOR REPAIR COMPLETING ALL THE FORMALITIES AS INSTRUCTED BY THEM FOR INSURANCE CLAIM WITH IN A DAY. THEY SAID WE 'LL DELIVER THE CAR WITH IN TWO TO THREE DAYS AT THE MAXIMUM.DESPITE INQUIRING TWICE ADAY AFTER THE GIVEN TIME THEY TOOK FIVE MORE DAYS. AND TO MY SURPRISE WHEN MY DRIVER WENT TO HAVE THE DELIVERY OF THE CAR ON 16.8.10 AFTER THEY SAID YOU CAN COME AND HAVE THE DELIVERY , THEY REFUSED TO GIVE THE DELIVERY ON THE PRETEXT THAT INSURANCE COMPANY HAS ASKED SOME MORE TIME TO GIVE O.K. FOR THE CASHLESS DELIVERY DUE TO THE REASON THAT HAVN'T RECEIVED THE PAYMENT.AFTER ADAY LONGS HARASSMENT BY THE EMPLOYEES OF GARYSON MOTORS MOGA I MANAGED TO GET THE DELIVERY BUT IT WAS DISGUSTING AND FRUSTATING FOR A PERSON TRAVELLING 125 KM TO HAVE HIS OWN VEHICLE AND LISTENING TOTHE RUBISH BEHAVIOUR AND ARROGANCE AND EXCUSES WHICH WAS ENTIRELY DUE TO THEIR IGNORANCE AND MISTAKE. POOR SHOW OF CUSTOMER SATISFACTION

in the month of june i bought a manza saffire model regist. no.hr12n6613 from raj motors. From the very 20th day of buying the car my fuel meter stops working... till from that day i am facing a lot of problem in the car ..now i days i am facing problem in engine due to no engine oil.. i don know what happen to engine .i have my car fitted with cng. i hardly pass three and half months.tata cars shows a lot of problem..they are now saying me that your car engine is out of warranty due to cng.. i just want to know one thing Isn't your car support cng?
Is it n't fit for cng .. how can a petrol engine vehicle get damaged in only 4 months..it means your quality of petrol as well as diesel engine is very bad.i just want to tell to my other frnds not to buy a tata car bcoz till now they don't get the bst quality of engine... and i am also agree with other owner of manza who had given thier comlpaints against it and having the same views against manza... very bad and poor company is tata .

still dnt let your money flow out of india
dnt let your money flow outside ypur country
I agree. Tata manza has poor mileage. This Car gives me only8 km/l mileage. I made a big mistake in buying this instead of Maruthi Dezire. I wrote a complaint on mileage, but no response from service team. They are very busy it seems.(ofcourse they will register your complaint but they will not act)
i wont agree thz guys, i bought manza(aura ABS) 6 months back, until now 18000 KMs i drewed it, i dont find any problem i faced, in city i get minimum 13 to 14 KMs/Litre and in Highways am getting solidly 16 to 17 KMs/Litre, i dont get any major problems...
most of them r thinking that its our countrys product so it wont be worth, not like that most of the advanced features & technologies has been dragged from other brand sedans to tata in a valuable cost...
I disagree with Manza is a failure comments. I bought Tata Manza Quadrajet 1 year back. This is my first car in my life, before this car I did not test drive any other car (even though I thought of test driving Hyundai verna and Maruti Swithi Dezire) but after test driving Manza, I booked the car immediately. My first car is the only test driven car in my life. Till date I had not faced single problem in my car. The mileage I am getting is excellent (25 KMPL) in highways and in Chennai city traffic I am getting average of 16 KMPL. In 100 km speed, the control is really good.

My friends are all having Honda City and other costly cars. But now they are telling my choice of Tata Manza is perfect. I am fully satisfied with Tata Manza
I find the above reviews rather surprising (but each one to his/her own experiences).I am not much of a social being who shares his experiences, especially on public sites. But any case, felt let me make an exception.I will try and put across a honest perspective.
I was an Indica owner earlier (for almost 7 yrs.) and though I really did not want to buy a TATA car again purely because of the service experience, I ended up buying a Manza (Diesel, Aura ABS) more than a year ago because I and my family liked the car. (space, Fiat engine etc.). The interiors are just ok.Considering that space/leg room is a criteria on long journey (for folks sitting in the back seats), I wasn't too bothered about having plush interiors.Plastics, certainly not great on the car. Exterior looks is just ok, the design can certainly need some re-work in terms o[censored]nwanted grooves etc, at the bonnet, which makes it difficult to clean.

Maybe my Manza is from the first batch of vehicles that were made I and my family have liked the car this far (i have gone close to 15000 kms. now), with quite a few outstation trips.I did have a couple of initial minor hiccups (electrical in nature) when I bought the car, which were rectified by the service folks after some follow up .
The mileage has been excellent (typically 14-16 in the city depending on drive conditions and 21-23 on good highways. This has been consistent this far. Just to validate the digital meter, I do check full tank to full tank also at times). The drive feel is certainly good and the space in the car (one of the reasons I went for the car) is excellent.
As such, I am not a fan of TATA motors and i believe they have got miles to go before they match up to service compared to other leading players. But they (rather the dealer I go to) have improved compared to my earlier experiences.Yet some dealers are ok, some are still pathetic.

One of the reasons I bought the car was for the Fiat technology (engine, gearbox) in it. No complaints on that front (the vehicle is almost noiseless). Only hitch is that service is lot more expensive compared to my Indica. A simple oil/filter change will cost you close to 6K or more, considering that u need to use synthetic oil and an expensive fuel filter. As such synthetic oils do not need a change for anywhere b/w 15 to 20 K kms (or 1 year).Yet, the cost of the oil /filter change is probably twice what it used to cost me earlier. As such, what I like is the fact that I do not need to visit the service center at every 5000 kms for the oil change. Their manual says 20000 Kms (not sure if this is really the case)
To sum it up, I would say that my experience with the Manza Diesel has been good this far (Jan 2010 to May 2011). I think for the price it is offered at, it is value for money.I certainly wouldn't want to pay other vendors the excessive price that they attach to their products owing to customs duty (Honda, toyota etc.).
Madhusudan, Bangalore
I agree to the view of Sh Madhusudan.Since I purchased Maza Aura plus, Diesel, in Dec2009, it has run for 20000km without any problem.only recently I am experiencig HARD gare movement which requires full pressure and very irritating.I visited two Tata workshops but they could not rectify the problem.I am planning to lodge a complaint in customer care and insist for a gear box change if its movement cannot be make swift.
