[Resolved]  Yatra.com — Refund for cancellation not received

I had booked one Ticket on yatra.com for travel date 24th September 2011 on 19th september 2011. However we decided not to travel on the said date and kept on trying to cancel the ticket on 22nd & 23rd september 2011. On 23rd finally I wrote a mail to [protected]@irctc.co.in. I got a revert from the id at 10.38 P.M same date mentioning that the since ticket has been booked through yatra.com request you to contact agent as we require mail from agent. Thus I wrote a mail to [protected]@yata.com at 6.24 A.M on 24th to write to irctc so that they can cancel my ticket.I got a generic mail at 6.52 A.M from yatra stating that yatra has received my query and shall be responsing shortly and assigned ref no 7156729.to my complaint.I didn't receive any revert and chart preparation time was nearing and thus I wrote again at 1.48 P.M stating that the ticket is not showing as cancelled and I have not received any revert and please ensure that full amount is refunded back to me.For this mail I got a revert at 4.11 P.M giving another reference number PXR8DE and stating that the said tiocket remained waitlisted and I will get a refund to my CC automatically within 5-6 days. However my ticket had got confirmed as I had checked the same by through sms service.So I wrote one more mail at 8.43 P.M informing that the ticket got confirmed despite my so many mails and since I have not travelled and informed you well in advance and cancellations were not happening so please refund the amount to me.For which I got one more reply 1.25 P.M on 25th stating that the cancellations can be done on our site only and for confirmed tickets TDR is required to be filed after 24 hours and applicable charges are deducted from the same. I again wrote a mail to on 25th at 9.27 P.M informing that the process provided is a normal process and since site was not working irctc required a mail fr4om yatra and I have not received copy of any such mail but I am entitled for full refund so refund my amount. I didn't receive any revert for the same and thus I sent another reminder to yatra on 27th september at 11.27 A.M for which I again got an apology and I was asked to file a TDR for refund no process for TDR etc was given and since TDR will deduct some charges no mention of balance money which will be deducted because of yatra's fault was given. I again wrote a mail on 28th September 2011 at 12.42 stating that all that is written by yatra is normal process and they should check the cpomplete chain of mails and ensure that the amount is refunded to my account by 29th evening else I will move to consumer court. The entire episode is a complete service lapse on part of yatra and they have not bothered to call and resolve my query.

It's more than 7 days when yatra team is looking into the issue. I got a call on 04th october 2011 from yatra where the official was not even aware of the complete rules and regulation and had not even read my mails completely. I got a mail again on 04th october 2011 to file TDR which I have done yesterday but also communicated that any difference must be paid by yatra. My concern is yatra team is still doing selective reading and trying to resolve the issue and no responsible person is actually trying to read the complete mails and taking action.
I have again received a mail from yatra today stating an incorrect rule. Yatra team has written that as per IRCTC rules for journeys of more than 1200 KM charts are prepared 12 hours in advance and since my mail was received at 6.28 A.M in the morning by the time chart was already prepared. As per IRTCT the ruke states For e-Ticket, booking can be done upto chart Preparation approximately 4 to 6 hours before departure of train.For morning trains with departure time upto 12.00 hrs charts are prepared on the previous night.

In addition I travel by August Kranti regularly and chart is prepared around 3.00 P.M only. Infact I had received a mail from yatra on 24th around 4.00 P.M stating that your tickets are waitlisted and you will receive a refund. I have been re-iterating this in all my communications again and again and still no one is reading the complete chain of mails and quoting incorrect rules again and again.

This is with reference to your email dated 10th October, 2011, regarding the cancellation, under Yatra booking reference number PXR8DE.We would like to inform you that your booking made under Gerenal Quota, it was a confirmed booking after the chart preparation, so as per IRCTC rule and regulation ticket cannot be cancel after the chart preparation.We have received your cancellation request on 24th September, 2011, at 6:23 AM than chart has already been prepared, as per the IRCTC rule and regulation if the ticket is for a distance of more than 500 kilometers, the chart is prepared before 12 to 14 hours prior of departure time.Your have already file the TDR and the TDR refund request is under process from IRCTC end.

It is ridiculous how can some one continue to revert to consumer complaints with incorrect rules and regulations and don't even bother to check all the reverts that people from there own organisation have also reverted. Even when I have given the rules and regulations as mentioned on the IRCTC yatra ooficials continue to quote incorrect regulations.

We have processed refund of INR 3712/- under yatra reference PXR8DE as per the normal cancellation charges on 28th October, 2011 from our end. Bank would take approx. 4-5 days to update the credit into your account. We hope this helps resolve your query.
