Acer India — Sofware issue for Iconia A100

I was gifted an Iconia A1000 Tab by a friend from US. its software got corrupted.The tablet is no more under warranty. I tried to get online support calling the customer Care Support talking to one Mr. Suraj but to no avail. He suggested me to take it to Acer service Lounge, Nehru Place, New Delhi. When i went there they informed that this model has not been launched in India and its software is not available with them. They said they wud charge Rs. 10000/- for changing some internal part after which it wud start working fine. They also informed that a new tablet wud cost around Rs. 8000/- I was disgusted by their callous attitude. that instead of rectifying the problem they were telling me to purchase a new tablet.i found out from some online shopping site that Iconia A 100 is very much available in India for Around Rs. 15000/- I never expected this kind of treatment from a comapny like Acer. Kindly solve my problem
