Air India — Cancellation of Flight AI 945

Dear Sir/Madam This is to inform you that I am extremely disappointed with what has happened last night (9th Jan 2016) at Mumbai Airport with the passengers of flight AI 945 which included my wife along with 2 kids (younger one only 7months old). As you can see the trailing email shows the flight was suppose to start at 11:30pm from Mumbai and reach Abu Dhabi at 1:30am. Following are the things that happened on 9th January 2016 related to this flight AI 945 Earlier in the day we received a sms informing us about the flight being delayed by 1 hour. After reaching the airport it was known flight was late by another hour and half with new scheduled time to take off was 2:00 am. The passengers were boarded on the aircraft and were made to wait endlessly without any proper reasoning. The crew kept on saying it got late hence the scheduled pilot has refused to fly the plane and we are arranging a replacement. They were served dinner while the flight was still on ground. Finally the crew declared that the flight is cancelled. When the passengers refused all except one crew member left the aircraft keeping the lavatories locked and everyone had to go back to airport terminal and disembark. At the airport they were told to come next day and they will be accommodated in next day's flight. On the other hand the call center had no information at all about the flight, they kept on saying flight is scheduled at 2:00 am until 4:00 am they had no information at all. After calling the Air India Abu Dhabi office I was informed that flight was cancelled due to technical issues and not because of pilot's absence. My wife had to travel all alone with my kids to Mumbai south from Andheri in the night, secondly both my kids fell sick after waiting in the flight for 4 hours. I would like to know who is responsible for all this? First of all I would request the management to do a thorough inquiry about this whole incident and provide a proper explanation to each of the passengers who entrusted Air India to serve them for which they were charged. Secondly I would like to have the refund for this returned flight as I have arranged for the alternate flight as my son had to reach Abu Dhabi to attend his school. And finally I would like to have reasonable compensation for the hardship my family faced without any fault just because of the non-performance of Air India and its crew.
