I had taken the travel ticket for my son, Mr. Amar Soorya, for travelling from Muscat to Mangalore on 11/09/2023 (PNR UVY9PL). The ticket was taken under student fare option. The check in baggage allowance was 30KG.
The luggage weight was adjusted within the allowable limit which was 29KG. Air India express counter at the airport advised that only 20Kg can only be allowed as the system shows 20Kg even after review of the ticket printout and the ticket received through Air India express email. The adamancy on not reviewing any mistakes in the system was very much noticeable from the Air India support staff (Not the counter staff) in Airport.
We had no options other than to pay the extra luggage fees of RO.6/ Kg for 9Kg (total- RO.54/-) and airport tax of RO.3.150/-.
The situation was embarrassing and a huge dismay to ourselves even when we kept all the regulations/directives intact.
I am attaching the copy of the itinerary received through email from Air India Express (with 30kg Checked in Baggage) and the payment receipt paid for 9Kg as additional for the eligible luggage as per out ticket taken from Air India Express Website ( Excess as advised by Air India Express Officials at the Air Port) due to system failure and approach of the staff.
I earnestly request you to refund the penalties of RO.57.150 I had to pay for none of my mistakes or ignorance but a failure of Air India Express website.
