Greetings!
I am writing to bring to your notice the issues being faced by me due to cancellation of flight number IX- 1055 from Kolkata to Jaipur on the 28th of November, 2025 by Air India, the intimation of the cancellation was shared with me via WhatsApp and mail on the 10th September, 2025.
The cancellation has left us in a state of despair as the tickets were booked for a family wedding in Pushkar, Rajasthan. Since the cancellation of the flight, there has been an incessant hike in the flight fares of other airlines, the tickets which were earlier booked at a rate of INR 8500 per passenger with AIX are now costing INT 13, 724 without adding up the convenience fee charged for online booking.
Since the wedding is in Pushkar, a 3.5 hour drive from Jaipur, the only viable flight timing option apart from Air India is the 11 : 20 am Indigo flight from Kolkata, the current price for which I have stated above. I will be attaching screenshots below for your reference.
Alternatively, we will have to elongate our travel plans and take a flight to delhi on the 27th of November, bearing an additional cost for hotel booking and then take a train to Jaipur from Delhi the next day just so that we can reach on time, bringing us additional expenses and hassle.
I had made my booking with AIX way in advance just to avoid the absurd surge in flight fares around this time of the year as we approach the wedding season, hence, the flight was booked on March 26th, 2025 as a step towards making a financially sound decision. However, now we are completely puzzled and disheartened due to this sudden cancellation by Team Air India Express which is pushing us towards bearing an additional loss of INR 5k per ticket on a flight or on hotel expenses and train tickets just to be able to attend the family function on time.
I request Air India Express to kindly compensate me fairly by paying the additional refund of 5k per ticket in addition to the initial 8.5k per ticket paid during the time of booking as the cancellation from the company’s end and a customer should ideally not have to bear with the consequences of issues being generated by the company.
I would also like Air India Express to get in touch with the travel partner Make My Trip via via which the booking was made and make sure that we are not losing out on the convenience fee of INR 1k paid during the time of booking since this was not a voluntary cancellation from our end. I had gone ahead with the full refund option on WhatsApp with Tia, wherein it showed that a sum of 16.5k will be refunded to me, however we had paid INR 17.5k during the booking. The reference id for the request is 28272123.
Kindly look into this and help us with a fair and just resolution. I have tried getting in touch with the customer care executive twice, but they shared incorrect email-id, where in I could have sent a mail stating my issue, apart from that even the website resolution with Tia, their chatbot is not working nor is the email id stated on their website. I am attaching all necessary details and screenshots below for a clear understanding of the situation.
