Air India Express — DEALING WITH LOST BAGGAGE | |
I had travelled to Kerala for a short visit of 1 week to attend an important function. I travelled by Air India Express flight no. IX 452 on 21/05/15 from Abu Dhabi, landing in Kochi on 22/05/15. My baggage was misplaced by the airlines and I had to go back to the airport again 2 days later to collect it. This mistake of theirs caused me an additional expense of around Rs.5000/- for clothes purchases and Rs. 4000/- for taxi fare to the airport to collect the baggage.
I left home at 5:30am to reach the airport around 8:30am. I had to wait for 1 and 1/2 hours to get by baggage. It took another 45min.s to convince their staff to reimburse me for my losses. One staff member agreed to pay an amount of Rs.1250/- as that was the maximum they would pay. Then another staff tried to bargain the amount down to Rs.1000/- . After agreeing to pay me Rs.1250/- and making me sign on 6 pages of the acknowledgement form(saying I received this amount from them), I was handed over a sum of Rs.1050/- only. On asking about the missing Rs. 200/-, their answer was that I must have dropped it.
Exasperated with all this, I returned the money back to them, which they accepted very happily. So inspite of signing papers of having received Rs. 1250/- from them, I did not get any compensation at all.
