I am unsatisfied with the baggage handling situation of air india. I arrived in kathmandu 2 days ago, on 21 september, at 9.30 am. One of my bags had arrived - the bag with my art materials in. The bag with all my clothes, shoes, toiletries, medicine, mosquito repellent, sleeping bag etc did not arrive with me, because there was a power bank inside which had to be removed at delhi airport. "it will be on the next flight", they told me at delhi, and here i am, more than 48 hours later, and i have been told repeatedly "it will be on the next flight". I have no idea if my bag is lost, what are they doing with it? I have had to delay my travel plans and stay an extra night in this hotel, now probably 2 extra nights, when i am meant to work as an artist with a charity in marpha, which i have already paid for. I have no clothes, nothing. And i have had no reliable information from air india. It seems my situation is not taken seriously. I don't feel that air india cares about its customers.
1. Why was my baggage not put on the next flight, as i was told it would?
2. Why has my guesthouse in kathmandu (Whose number i gave to air india) not been contacted with information about the situation? They say they will call, and we hear nothing.
3. Why has so much time been allowed to pass, with my baggage still held at delhi airport? It takes no time at all to modify the baggage and remove the offending power bank.
4. Power banks are relatively recent things to carry in luggage. I haven't owned one before, i purchased it especially for the trip. I understand many passengers would be in the same situation. So the information about power banks not being allowed in baggage should be displayed very prominently at the check in. It is not on the poster with pictures of forbidden items, only in the small print on the website, so it is understandable that i would not have known this.
5. I have emailed many times without receiving a response.
I wish to receive clear communication about when my baggage will be returned, and compensation for the delay. If this situation is not resolved promptly, i will be cancelling the return leg of my journey and going with another airline as i no longer trust air india with my belongings, or indeed with anything, because the method of dealing with difficult situations - which always will arise when travelling - is not as careful or efficient as i would have expected.
