[Resolved] Air India — Refund of cancelled ticket | |
I booked a flight ticket (PNR: H14YF, eticket:[protected]/70) for 2 passengers (I and my wife) from Visakhapatnam (VTZ) to Chicago (ORD) with travel date on 30th September 2020 via Air India website. The booking date was 09th September 2020 for Rs. 1, 02, 194. Due to personal reasons we decided not to travel and called Air India's 24x7 customer care number[protected] on 26th September 2020 and requested to cancel our ticket and proceed for refund (we agreed to a total cancellation charges of Rs. 12, 000 + 5% GST). In the call I was informed that the cancellation was successful and I would get a confirmation email with details of my refund in few minutes and approx. 1 week for crediting refund into source of payment during the issuance of the flight ticket. I had sent an email to [protected]@airindia.in asking for the status of my refund. Yet, I had waited for 1 week, there was no confirmation email nor refund. Then I raised a request (#15458) in the Air India portal on 1st October 2020, for that I got a response stating that refund was initiated and in 3-4 weeks the amount would be credited to the source account. Meanwhile in the same request thread, I had put more questions asking for exact details of refund, I didn't get any response. Then after 3 weeks as of 16th October 2020, I had raised another request (#18029) hoping that I would get a response but my hopes went in vain as I didn't receive any response. The amount is not a small one to me and it is my hard earned money. Not just airlines I too had Covid-19 impact and had to spend for recovery. The numbers provided in the Air India portal[protected]/4) never connect nor no one picks up the call. I tried calling them all 5 days within mentioned time frame but no response. I lost trust in them and I sincerely hope that this platform would provide justice and let the airlines refund my money soon. I am a retired government employee and I live on my pension. Nov 10, 2020 Complaint marked as Resolved No one from Air India approached me.
Along with this forum, I had put complaint in NCH (National Consumer Helpline, INGRAM) and sent emails to [email protected] (refer to point 5 in this page: http://www.airindia.in/customer-service-plan.htm)
Not sure which one worked but, got my refund by 45days from the date of cancellation. Air India customer support has been notified about the posted complaint. | |
