[Resolved] Ample Technologies — scam
One of my iphones developed a charging issue and was dead when i gave it to the koramangala-forum mall ample technologies, an apple authorized service center. Two days later i was intimated through mail that there was an issue of liquid trace and was shown by an indicator. So the "ample technologies" were suggesting that the mobile was exposed to water/fluid, which wasn't the case and i was sure that something wasn't right. Notwithstanding, the guys also gave me a quotation for a new mobile, stating that the warranty is void, despite the mobile being 5 months new. I took my mobile to a roadside service center and it turns out to be a battery problem. On replacement of the battery, the phone works like charm. Wondering why apple would call it a motherboard issue?? Scam is the only word that came to my mind. Apple india also wasn't of any help as they said that "none of the devices sold by apple are from apple directly, but from authorized resellers". An eyeopener indeed. This indeed has a greater bearing because, if the same would have happened in the us, a replacement is provided free of cost with no-questions asked. Infact, we pay more in india per piece but such deficiencies in service. Was this information helpful?
Mar 20, 2018 Complaint marked as Resolved Ample Technologies customer support has been notified about the posted complaint. Verified Support Feb 13, 2018 Ample Technologies Customer Care's response As an Apple Authorised Service Provider, we comply with guidelines as provided by Apple. For a device which is identified / diagnosed as Liquid Damage, the recommended option is to provide for a Whole Unit Replacement as Exchange price for the customer. Liquid Damage corrodes components of the device over time and the functionalities may get impacted in stages. Hence the Apple Authorised Service Provider would only provide for a service option that ensures proper functioning of the device post the service. Hence the recommendation provided here to the customer is appropriate and correct. Verified Support Feb 13, 2018 Ample Technologies Customer Care's response Dear Team, Below is the response sent to customer on 13th Feb 2018 with regards to his repair status From: [protected]@icareservice.co.in, To: [protected]@gmail.com Hi Prabahar, This is with regards to the notice which we have received, please find the details of your case with detailed explanation. Device was accepted for "Not powering on" issue on 01/02/2018 and our front end engineer had also mentioned as "Need to check the internal condition in the Repair acceptance form which is signed by you. Post the device acceptance our engineer had thoroughly checked the device for the reported issue and performed the visual mechanical inspection internally and found external LCI (Liquid Contact indicator ) triggered and liquid traces found internally. Hence as per Apple warranty policy any physical / Liquid damages are not covered and hence the same has to be replaced under paid service. Further to this our engineer had shared the quotation for the whole unit replacement. As per our Apple process any ASP cannot replace components in the devices that have triggered LCI(Liquid damage) and hence we need to go for whole unit replacement under paid service.
