It is easy to tell power lines apart from these types of lines - power lines are always higher up on the pole, they always have insulators, and they do not touch other lines. Cable and telephone lines are located further down the pole and are directly attached to power poles without insulators.
But we have too old and too dangerous telephone poles used for hanging high tension wires on the 80 Feet Road in front of our building that is posing a threat to commuters. The pole is no longer being used for distributing telephone line rather being used as support by KESCO for overhead electrical supply. Thus, passersby remain at a risk of some unwanted accident, especially during rain or storm.
Therefore in order to avoid electric shock injuries from the bare electrical wires supplying overhead, we have already submitted an application for safe isolation of the power supply to the KESCO department. This will reduce the risks from contact with overhead power lines.
We have been asked by KESCO department to get this telephone pole removed and thereby action will be taken by them to remove the bare electrical wires from these poles.
There are various instances that show how easily deaths and serious injuries can occur, but just as importantly, how some straightforward steps could have prevented them from occurring.
