BigRock sold me a NVMe cPanel VPS for ₹26, 026 on 5-Nov-2025 - but delivered a HDD (proof: cat /sys/block/sda/queue/rotational = 1). Advertised: Lightning-fast NVMe Delivered: HDD Reality: 18–20 minutes to open a 3 KB file in cPanel Paid extra ₹15, 000+ for performance and cPanel that doesn’t exist Fresh install, new invoice - no renewal excuse Misrepresentation. Breach of trust. Unfit for purpose. Refund requested. Escalating to Consumer Court, NCH, & influencers if ignored. Avoid BigRock. False advertising is not acceptable. Verified Support Dec 11, 2025 BigRock India Customer Care's response Hello, We use the QEMU emulator to provide virtualization, and this technology uses a virtual disk format called qcow2. Because of this, the operating system inside the virtual machine does not interact with the physical storage directly. Instead, it sees a virtual hard drive that QEMU presents. As a result, customers' VPS shows the drive as an HDD even if the actual underlying storage is an SSD. This is expected behavior with virtualized environments and does not affect performance or functionality. Below are the details from the main hypervisor node. The customer's VPS is hosted on compute2.
