My concern is about the ECS Return charge and further the misbehave done by a bank manger which is not tolerable and also unforgettable.
Description:- I do have a Car loan on this particular branch whose first EMI date was[protected]. As per the Canara bank guidelines, The first EMI had been debited from the Canara bank itself on the 14th/March. Then I am not sure why again bank had been tried to pull the money from my linked HDFC ECS account on 16th and 21st of the march. For that 2 times ACH debited charge (590+590) had been debited from my account.
When I visited the branch, They assured me that they will refund me the amount. After waiting of 20 days, I did a call to them, One of the bank employee reply that I will check with the BM and will call you in 10 minutes. After waiting of 1 hour when again I made a call to them, no body has responded. Then I mailed my concern to them on [protected]@canarabank.com, also added [protected]@canarabank.com, [protected]@canarabank.com on CC as guided by Canara CCC.
Then BM of the branch had called me, with out starting a conversation with Hi/Hello or who is she and the reason of calling, she started scolding me that why I have been added those email ID along with branch email ID. When I asked who are you, then she told me I am the BM of the branch, TELL ME!. Then I said, I have added those mail ID in CC not in TO, so what's wrong with that. Then again she scolded and suddenly drop off the call. I wish I could have a record of the conversation.
Immediately I called to that number, the employee named Chaitanya had picked up my call and she was trying to explain the things about ECS Bounce charge. Then The BM took the phone and said since your ECS-HDFC account had been activated, they have been tried to pull the money and which we can't refund now. If it could have happened in April, then we could process for the refund, since it's happened in March, we can't do anything on this. When I asked her that, you should explain this terms and conditions before applying for the loan, then she told Everything we can't explain as these are the normal things. May be it's a normal thing for a BM but debit of 1200+236(Mandate charge from Canara bank) bucks for a lower middle class people is not normal. I wish she could have understand the situation.
It's not possible to maintain the EMI balance in 2 bank account account and possible wait for the deduction but still I have maintained the balance in both the bank until 15th of march. Before taking the loan, they should explain about the terms and condition, what is ECS account and how it's going to be charge and all to the customers so that there will be no confusion and no additional charges will be cost to the customer.
I am not sure, If in April the refund process is possible then why can't be on March. Somewhere I have been cheated by the bank.
Canara bank is pushing for many hidden charges by naming it as low interest rates which is completely unacceptable.
RBI should take some strict action on this also on this rude, arrogant branch managers who even doesn't know how to behave their customers.
