Canara Bank — Cheque not collect by Home Branch

Dear Concern,
I have a account with canara bank moti nagar branch vide account no[protected]. The Branch team has denying to take over the cheque. They returned the cheque and make excuse that your cheque is not valid for this account please change the date and resubmit. Please let us know, is there any rule in banks that pre dated cheques are not collect.
