Filed a health insurance claim (Claim No.[protected], Policy No.[protected] with Care Health Insurance for my 84-year-old father's hospitalization at Horizon Prime Hospital, Thane, for acute neurological illness. Despite the hospital being listed as cashless-empanelled, cashless facility was denied at admission citing it is available only for surgery cases — forcing out-of-pocket payment during a medical emergency. On filing for reimbursement, the insurer has repeatedly rejected the claim citing 'benefit not covered' without specifying any policy clause, and has sent multiple templated responses repeating the same document requests despite the treating doctor's undertaking letter (clarifying no prior known history of the condition) being submitted twice. The insurer issued this policy to an 84-year-old proposer with declared pre-existing conditions without any medical underwriting or health check-up, collecting a substantial premium, and is now denying a legitimate claim. Despite an active IRDAI complaint (Token No.[protected], status 'Pending by Insurer'/'Attended to'), Care Health has separately claimed the complaint is 'resolved.' This amounts to deficiency in service and unfair trade practice, causing financial hardship and mental distress to a senior citizen's family. Seeking claim settlement and appropriate redressal."
