Citibank — KYC Details of deceased persons
Mrs. U. S. Ghatalia has an account No: [protected] with Citibank. Mrs. U. S. Ghatalia passed away on 19 August 2011. A probate application has been made to the high court by me Nanak S. Ghatalia who is the son of the deceased and a named executor in the Will of the Late Mrs. U. S. Ghatalia. Until the probate is obtained, there is nothing we can do.. Since 2011, this account has been kept open because of cheques coming directly into the bank account from dividends and fixed deposits. Now, the Citibank is asking for KYC documents which cannot be produced as Mrs. U. S. Ghatalia and Mr. S. V. Ghatalia both joint holders have passed away and are no longer alive. Under such circumstances, please advise if the account can be kept open until the probate order is obtained. Immense hardship will be caused if the account is closed. As the applicant for the probate, the named executor in her Will and as her son, I am willing to give my KYC details as a representative. Please call me on [protected] for any further information or clarifications you may. This matter is urgent because Citibank has given me only a week's notice to close the account. I require a direction from RBI that the account can be kept open until final orders of the court are received. Nanak Ghatalia (Son of the Late Mrs. U. S. Ghatalia and Mr. S. V. Ghatalia and an Executor named in the Will of the late Mrs. U. S. Ghatalia) Was this information helpful?
