Citibank — Taking out money from the account without any information to customer.

Hi,

This is Shivender Pratap Singh (CITI AC No : [protected]) would like to register a complaint against citibank.
I have an Insurance Account linked to my salary account. When i opened this account on 29th Oct 2015 i clearly stated that the insurance should start from January but to my astonishment the premium was deducted from my account in month on 30 november itself. Bank did not even thought of notifying me regarding this which i believe is unethical as being an account holder i have the right to be notified of any ECS being taken out of my account well in advance.

Lets continue the story, after December no premium got deducted from my account until 30th Jan 2016. I called citibank twice enquiring why the premium was not deducted in month of January, i was told by citibank phone rep that the policy is inactive and i should hear back from them within 48 hours. That did not happen till now. I got salary credited in my account on 30th January and here she goes they deducted the premium as soon as i got my salary. Again no communication happened on this part and i received a sms regarding this transaction one day later. Now you guys again deducted the premium on 6th Feb 2016 for which i received the SMS.

As an account holder it is my right that i should be notified of the transaction being made on my account. I got this insurance from Citi while opening my account and as far as i am concerned there is always a fixed date when we have to pay our premium or EMI, bank just cant deduct the premium as and when they want and that too without notifying the account holder well in advance. This is completely insane and unethical on the banks part.

I called Citi yesterday complaining about the same and the lady told that there is no supervisor on the floor and i should get a callback within 2 hours. 24 hours have passed and no calls yet.

I need this insurance policy cancelled and all the premiums should be credited back to my account ASAP.
I am going to lodge a complaint against the bank on consumer forum as well and i am going to take this on social media.
