[Resolved]  Book My Show — Fraud Scam while booking of tickets

We were booking our tickets for Comedy Store 8:30 PM for Tanmay Bhat, Markus Birdman & Pierre Hollins show on Oct 01, 2011. We started out booking 4 tickets of Rs 500, with the Visa 1 free on 1 ticket booked. On providing the credit card details the system confirmed the offer and the discount of Rs. 1000, with a final transaction amount of Rs. 1100 something. We went ahead to make the payment through a Visa Platinum credit card and made the payment without checking the transaction amount. On completing the transaction, we were shocked to discover that we had been sold the Rs. 750 tickets (which we initially rejoiced as a technical mistake that worked in our favour). Too our horror, on receiving the SMS from the credit card's bank, we realised that this was not a freebie, rather we had been charged the full Rs. 3000 plus the transaction amount by Book My Show. The discount of one free on one booked, which was displayed during the transaction, had also not been executed.

We immediately called Book My Show to register the error in booking. The call centre personnel (don't remember his name) after much explanations understood our case but refused to do anything, since it was 'not a technical fault'. He also asked us for screen shots of the discount shown on the screen during the transaction! Who does that in between transactions was our answer.

Accepting our fate of having booked the Rs. 750 tickets, we checked why the discount hadn't been applied even though the website says we have used the quota for the credit card, Book My Show had no answer. They said they would re-activate if for the said credit card, which they did during the call. This was no relief for us as we felt cheated by the entire episode.

The Manager Kapil then came on the line and refused to admit Book My Show's fault and insisted that it is it was a system error the transaction would have shown an error. He went out to say that the best we could do was reach the venue on time and try and negotiate with the booking team there, thus saving some money!

I have been a regular on the Book My Show portal but after this incident I feel cheated and am certain to not use their services without caution. I recommend the same to other users as well.
