[Resolved] BSNL (Evdo USB Data Card) — The worst customer service!! The reason why Japan built itself so hi-tech in 50+ years from scratch and India did not!!
I'm an IT trainer and fortunately or unfortunately I teach customer service to people and I experienced the most terrible customer service ever. I walked into the Koramangala, Bangalore BSNL Customer service office to apply and collect a USB Data Card for my laptop. I had to visit the office 7 times and every time I went there they would tell me they have no stocks or they'd tell me that there computers are not functioning so they can’t communicate to the concerned dept. The old lady there even shouted at me for being persistent and showing up so many times, although later she tells me that it happens because she has too much work(Not what I saw when I was there for hours unless you call talking over the phone a lot of work). I eventually got the USB Data Card and now came the issue of activating it. It's been two weeks now and calling customer care number and getting a hold of one person (and that was the only time I got to speak to someone) revealed that the work order was not sent from the customer care office in two weeks. There phones are never reachable and I don’t like to meet them just to get yelled by them.
My opinion as a customer service trainer:
1. Customer Service is an attitude and not something that can be enforced on one
2. Please get rid of people who cannot and I mean literally cannot multi-task certainly for the fact that they are old. I don’t mean offense against elderly folks and I certainly respect them but there's a limit to what we can expect from them
3. Someone has to make a conscious effort to improve the system. It doesn’t happen on its own, It’s not evolution its revolution that this country needs
4. I see a lot of complaints against different departments in BSNL and a Google search will reveal hundreds of blogs that has everything negative to say about BSNL. My question is, what has any of it achieved? Here I am putting down a complaint and I wonder what it's going to fetch me. I sure hope this write up makes a difference somewhere, somehow.
