[Resolved]  Chennai Traffic Police — Chennai - Traffic Police

Hi,

On the Friday last around 6:30 PM (during the peak period) my driver was crossing the Teynampet Signal on the mount road, suddenly the signal came red when in the middle of the signal and the traffic police asked him to pay fine for Rs. 1050/- and later said reducing to Rs. 400/-.

When I argued with the police, they aske me to talk to the inspector who is so rude and said, it was 1050 and now given concession ..so pay 400 and take the vehicle. In the meanwhile, he instructed the constables to lock the vehicle and said they will come and take tomorrow. This is so rude and they dont even feel for the public. When I said I will pay, he insisted that I have to pay Rs. 400. He prepared a receipt for the same quoting sections 183(1) in the receipt. i asked him what is the section you are mentioning in the receipt, he said it for drivining with no control. This is rediculous to charge public like this for signal jumping under false sections, wher as for the offence is only Rs 50.

What for they are charging this hefty fines? To show to theier superiors? They have collected Rs. 4 Crores fine in the month of November etc...

Also, they tried to attack my driver asking him to handover the car keys and he refused and a police man was beating him as well.

This is totally shame on the entire traffic police.

How can I take this forward?

regards
Harish

Dear Sir,
I parked the Two wheller just opp to the Sowcarpet Post office to get the Postal cover. I returned within 5 minutes then I got a shock my two wheeler was taken by the Traffic police . I just checked by the tourist car drivers (who parked the cars next to my two wheeler) they said that the traffic police towed my two wheeler I will have to go the Flower Bazar police station to get the vehicle.

Immediately I rushed to the Police station and waited for about 2 hours and I paid the penalty and took the vehicle back.

My query is
1)Why the Government office is running without parking facility?
2) Why only two wheelers are towed when there are Cars and auto rickshaw are parked next to my two wheeler?
3) Why there is no spot fine?
4) How we know where to go and collect the vehicle ?
5) My Vehicle headlight is broken why? Is this the way of handling the vehicle?

Natarajan
Hi,

Today 07/12/08 9.40p.m, I wrongly made a U-turn in Annasalai near Vasantha Bhavan. The traffic police made me to stop and switch off the vehicle. He checked my license, RC, Insurance and said ok you have everything but now you have to pay fine of 1500Rs.I was really upset for a U-turn so much of fine.I feel sorry for the mistake. He suddenly reduce the amount to 500 Rs.I was confused. That day i spend a lot.I have only 85 Rs at the end of the day.I bargained him to reduce still. He came to 200Rs.

Finally he ask me how much u have.I said 80 Rs.He told to give that money.I am excepting him to give the charge sheet but he put the money in his pocket and told me to go off.finally i realized he ask for bribe.

I also realized, he threated the people by asking them to pay high. The people hesitate to pay high. They are converting this, into opportunity for getting bribe.

I beleive the above statement given by harish is suppose to be true because they asked 1500Rs from me too...80% of money goes to their pocket and 20% they book it as a case to get good name.
hai,
In Bangalore city traffic police had kept board detail of Fine amount for offences in many public place . But In Tamilnadu, chennai not even posted detail of fine amount in they own website. Best you buy good camera mobile with call recorder record the insitant and send to the concern officer and post it in you tube.com. Camera mobile is one of best tool for eradicate corruption in society.

Dear Sir

I have a different issue. for me we citizen to support our traffic police, on various practical issue. But they must listen to us, which generally not happen.

take the example, while coming from K.K.Nagar, immedialty you can see road from Ekkaduthangal merge and there is a big mess. it is a complete human error and alway can see small and big accident. i have a solution to the same, which is very simple but no body want to listen the same. similarly near pothy in T.Nagar, huge bridge has come, but it was the bridge that was not matter there. simple because people are crossing at regular interval from Nalli to Lalitha Jewellery, Traffic police stops vehicles and make a traffic jam.

What is my suggestion have a passerby so that people can move without interrpting vehicle movement.

many more like the same way.

but no taker what to do ?
Sir
I would like to suggest our chennai traffic police must install time counting system in the traffic signal near Anna Flyover in the mount road. When you are coming from Cathedral road to nungambakkam high road, we find green and suddenly changes to yellow and to red. Even when you cross during the end of green signal and yellow and red signals are falling without time limit and the police is charging the public without any consideration.
TRY TO OBEY THE TRAFFIC RULES.
Well You are not alone.I have found the Chennai traffic police to be the worst I have come across as they are absent at most of the important junctions resulting in a free for all.The public must be thanked for some prudent nd cautious driving as the regulator is missing always.Look at the the way they have implemented the helmet rule-Only rnadom checks are done and hence almost 50% of the two wheeler riders do not obey the rule

I have also wondered at the poor planning of the traffic police as is eveident from the flyover constructed at Mahalingapuram resulting in a greater chaos than before. The residents of the colony now have only one exit and entry which again is not manned by the traffic police.I suppose they are waiting for one fatal accident to happen as minor ones happen every day as the drivers view is blocked by the autos and the empty crates of the Aavin booth out there

In Sivasankaran Salai near D.M.S. compound vehicles are being driven at top speed. There is no speed breaker in this road and hence it poses danger to the local residence as well as the office goer in the surrounding areas. Hence it is requested that a speed breaker may be provided in Sivasankaran salai at the earliest.

Thanks

Akila
The flyover in T.Nagar is a blessing in disguise. When a flyover is constructed there should be free flow of traffic in all adjacent roads, but they have made Burkit road as one-way from Venkatanarayana road side. Pepole residing in and around Burkit road are finding it very difficult to go upto Nandanam signal and take U-turn and come via Sadullah Street or South-west boag road.

I do not know why they made Burkit Road as one-way though it is very wide and can accommodate more vehicles and it also leads to Madley Road Sub-way with which we can go to west mambalam avoiding Duraiswamy which is always choked with traffic.

Hope they will consider this and make it two-way.
See my friends, i understood whatever you met critical situation and i also met, but my comments is only we need to know the awarness of penalties and fines proceedure. pls see the below link details for more awarness of penalties and fines, then you can speak with traffic police without fear. click the link for more awarness :

The City traffic police can be said to be from organised begging sector. This is true when it comes to the traffic regulation in the city. This is a recurring phenomenon in Thiruvotriyur where the container lorries are allowed on TH road just for Rs.10. How do we call this ? I do not find a better word than this.

This reckless fuctioning of the PCs make the life so difficult for the residents driving down to home. Also the roads are very narrow and only the traffic keeps multiplying. The government should necessary steps to curb this.
Dear Sir,

I am P. Sabari Vendhan residing at Annanagar. Today (30th July) i was driving at Annasalai. When i was standing near the signal opp to IOB Head Office, Traffic police pulled over me for lane violation. Later SI MR. Soundararajan charged me Rs 100 for violating. CD number is 3558071 and Cash receipt number is 3209835. In the Case sheet they have mentioned as signal violation instead of lane violation. Also as per the price behind CD they have mentioned Rs50 for lane violation but they have charged me Rs. 100. Because of this i lost an order of 150000Rs. Will the Govt pay this amount for me??????????????

expose these corrupts unifromed goons (with their names), on

www.kaminababu.com

These kaminas are eating up our country from last sixty years since britishers left.
This is most common in chennai now. we are speech less in this kind of suituation.

If we wont agree to pay the money, they will take the vehical to station and will remove some parts from bike or car. this is really shame,
