Mr Mudi, Sorry to hear that your application for Housing Loan is rejected, per the comments in your CIR.

What I understood from the reason for rejection; "WRITTEN OFF'; is that you have settled your credit card for some fixed amount.

This "Written Off" situation arises when you are not in position to pay the total dues and try to settle the payment, less than what you owe to them and close the credit card. In this case you dont have any thing pending/out standing as you have settled it for some fixed amount, as mentioned above in my response.

I'm not sure when this Saga of Written Off has happened, but normally your history for "X" number of years is reflected on Credit Report. I am not sure what is the value of X, but assume that it would be for about 3 years or so.

Terms used by Banking and Financial Institutions has different meaning than what a layman can understand. It is fancy world out there and useage of fabricated words make lot of difference to one and may be all.

Get in touch with the banking expert in Credit Card domain to understand the meaning of "Written Off". And then talk to the Bank/s who has reported this "Written Off Status" to CIBIL and negotiate and see what can be done to get this status off from your CIR.

Please be aware not to post your PAN/Birth Date and combination of other such personal information on public domain, as this data can be used for identity theft.

PS: I am an individual and not associated with any institute/body providing legal assistance in such issues. All the comments provided above are as per my knowledge and past experience.

I have applied for an Education loan for my daughter Ananya Chakraborty for studying BBM course in Jain College, Bangalore, session of which have already started in July'11. I submitted all the documents pertaining to this to SBI, Bansdroni Branch, Kolkata. Loan sanctioning was held up as my CIBIL report shows "WRITTEN OFF" against unknown credit card. But, Sir, best of my knowledge goes I never kept anything pending or outstanding to any party like Bank or service provider like credit cards, Mobile Phones etc. Once in[protected] period I dropped a cheque in favor of HDFC Credit Card where last 4 digit of total 16 digit was missed by mistake. The amount was credited to them in their suspense A/c but I was made defaulter for my mistake in writing the full 16 digit of the card nos. I made appeal to them, visited their zonal main office in Kolkata meeting and head of Accounts personnel and finally wrote to their grievance cell. I took more than six months to rectify my accounts and it was adjusted . For those months I was charged penalty all along for non payments. But payment was made before their due date in Oct 2007 proof of which was shown to them . Kindly cite me the details of my case if any else kindly put remarks accordingly so that my CIBIL report will be clean.
