[Resolved]  Cinema Paradiso — Non refund of deposit

We had a membership of Cinema Paradiso in Kolkata. Once their branch was shutting down, we were told that we need to send a letter to get our refund. We have sent letters everywhere- to their Chennai operations, to their Bangalore operations, but there is no information from their end. Can someone please help us?

Cinema Paradiso — Non refund of Deposit Rs 3000/

I have paid a deposit of Rs.3000/ towards cinema paradiso , when I went to close my membership and get refund of Rs.3000 / the shops in bangalore( jayanagar & koramangal ) were closed. No body is responding to calls , they completely vanished. Even the lady Sunita who is responsible for all refunds etc is not responding to calls.

Request help from authorities concerned .

I've had cinema paradiso subscription in Bangalore. When I went to the shop this week it was closed. I was not informed that the shop is going to be closed. And I tried to call up and no body is responding.

I too had taken the membership for Rs. 3000/- at Cinema Paradiso at their Salt Lake, Kolkata branch about six months back. Thay just shut shop one fine day and now there are no more branches in Kolkata. The other branch at Rowland Road had shut down earlier. In fact there was no prior notification that they are going to be shutting down anytime.

So the only way of following up on this is by calling up with their branch in Chennai. But from what I am reading in the other posts, that does not seem to be any dividends either.

I am in a similar situation - I find it extremely galling that they can just walk away like this !

same situation here as well ... they just shut the shop one fine day and now I dont know how to get the money back. Called their bangalore no.s ... it says the incoming call facility is barred ...

Cinema Paradiso — closure of cinemaparadiso

I became a member of Cinema Paradiso, Jayanagar Bangalore. They have disappeared without any notice, without refunding the initial deposit.

Does anybody have their contact numbers / address?

We too have taken membership of Cinema Paradiso, Koramangla Bangalore. The library here suddenly did not have any new movies to rent, they said all movies have gone for cleaning. Than one day we found the shop closed down, we were not even informed about the shop closing down. We have no idea on where to get the refund of deposit money, tried calling all nos. given but none is working. looking at similar complaints it`s important that something should be done against them as it`s true that they cant just shut down without refunding money to customers.

Ya..the same problem here...Where the hell did they disappear. I read a notice on their board saying that they had orders frm the Delhi High court to shut down. And have asked to courier the membership card to their office in chennai for a refund. I have not tried it yet...has anyone?

I have had similar experiece regarding Cinema Paradiso. I had become a member depositing an amount of RS 3000 at Saltlake, Calcutta.

Only last week did i realise that they had closed down the shop. I had been trying to contact all their local offices and the numbers were all "out of service". Then while conducting a search online, I came across this forum.

I would like to get back my refund.

Question is how do we go about it? It seems they have duped a lot of their members from various cities and have disappeared completely!!!

I too found the store shut down and no deposit refund, no forwarding number or address to find them.

I became a member of M/s Cinema Paradiso (DVD & Film lending Library) No.5/77 C.P.Ramaswamy Road Alwarpet Chennai . On Visiting their shop two weeks back i was surprised to find that the shop was closed on two occasions that i visited. Recently i find that they have removed the sign board also and are now not be heard of. I now find that the company has been systematically closing down its offices at places in INDIA. I file this complaint now towards refund of Deposit of Rs.3000/- given by me.

I have also been duped by the company and I still have a membership in the koramangala branch of Bangalore. I would like to know if there was any action taken against them and is there any chance o[censored]s getting our money back

cinema paradiso koramangala, bangaloree had shut shop and disappeared without a trace, and along with them has disappeared my deposit of 3000 Rs. i hope your organisation can do something about it.

PLEASE TAKE STRONG ACTION AGANST THE CINEM APARADISO OWNER..........they hav shut down all brances and our 300 Rs with them....they have refunded....

please provide if anybody gets the contact number.

By mistake it has been written ..they ahve refundeed...but it's they haven't refunded the money

I had paid a refundable deposit of Rs 3000 to Cinema Paradiso , and those guys have disappeared overnight and are not traceable. Please see to it that strong action is taken against them.

Cinema Paradiso — Closed outlet without refunding deposit

I am a member of the Cinema Paridaso movie rental since 2006. I had paid a refundable deposit of Rs 2500. They had outlets in kormangala as well as Jayangar.
Recently, I found both outlets are closed. Also, on browsing the internet, I find they have closed outlest all over India and other customers have registered similar compliants.
I want to lodge compliant for refund of the deposit paid by me (Rs 2500). In addition, I want them to compensate for closing their outlets without informing me and without giving me an opportunity to get my deposit back.
