[Resolved]  City Bank Credit Card — CREDIT CARD FRAUD

On 22nd May 2009 i had received a call from "Mobile Store"([protected]), that I have made a purchased of 37,898.00 and 7,495.00 from my credit card through online transaction. After receiving the call i have checked my savings account in which my credit card has been mapped. I saw another 3 transaction has already been made for mobile recharge (mobile no: [protected]-1000 Rs,[protected]-1111 Rs, [protected] - 1000 Rs) from the merchant Mobile Recharge : CHE. I have also talked to the customer care executive regarding this issue and blocked the card. After enquiring from citibank executive I get to know that using my TPIN number which I have not yet received some one has changed the phone number and the registered phone number is [protected] which has also been used in the transaction of "ESSAR TELECOM RETAIL LTD".

According to the advice of citibank executive i have even sent(Faxed to Citi Bank Fax No.[protected], a card member declaration form to disputed amount.
The following payments are debited in my card.

Date Merchant Amount

20/05/2009 MOBILE RECHARGE : CHE. 1111.00
20/05/2009 MOBILE RECHARGE : CHE. 1000.00
20/05/2009 MOBILE RECHARGE : CHE. 1000.00
20/05/2009 ESSAR TELECOM RETAIL LTD. 37898.00
20/05/2009 ESSAR TELECOM RETAIL LTD. 7495.00

Last two transactions have been made online and for the delivery the mobile no. given to the merchant is [protected] and mail:[protected]@yahoo.com.

I have made a written complaint to the police station regarding this issue on 3rd of June 2009 as wel as send a copy to the Deputy Commissionar Of Police(Detective department) through fax.

The people from citibank are comming to my house and continiously threatning me for the due amount. They are trying to made my life horrible. I have personally went to the police station where I made the complaint and asked them to investigate this case and findout the culprit, but not getting any positive response.

On the other hand the due amount is going high day by day. I am scared to think that those people might come with more rude as the amount going high. Please help me on this issue. Please do the needfull to find out the culprit as soon as possible.

Hi There,

The case is not described clearly, But anyways i would tell what exactly is to be done if there are any disputed transactions occurred in the statement.

As you are disputing about 5 transactions made. First resend a DDF(Dispute Declaration Form) to the bank. Send that one thru fax and another through post to the service department of hsbc. The address will be mentioned on the statement. After sending confirm with the service department after 5 or 6 days weather they have received the form or not once they confirm you that they have received wait for 15 days so that the bankers will investigate on it. Once the investigation is done the bankers would either give you a call or send you a mail or send a letter about the status of the investigation. If the result is in favour of you, all the charges debited for you because of this will be reversed, if the bank says that you are liable to make the payment, then escalate your case to HEAD SERVICE DEPARTMENT BY EITHER WRITING A MAIL OR BY SENDING IT THROUGH POST AND THEN WAIT FOR 10 DAYS. IF YOU STILL DONT GET ANY RESPONSE ESCALATE IT TO THE RBI OMBUDSMAN.

http://www.rbi.org.in/Scripts/bs_viewcontent.aspx?Id=164 THIS IS THE LINK THAT GIVES YOU THE INFO OF OMBUDSMEN OF RESPECTIVE AREAS. THE CASE WILL BE HANDLED BY RBI AND WILL BE RESOLVED.

tHIS PROCEDURE IS TIME TAKING BUT DO FOLLOW THE PROCEDURE ONLY THEN YOU WILL BE ABLE TO RESOLVE IT.
