[Resolved]  Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam — Unchecked stealing of electricity - Forceful & Foul Language

Dear Sir,

After exhausting all means at our disposal, we are obliged to approach you for help and to report unauthorized stealing of electricity in the open. We understand that these issues might be trivial to your designations, but we hope that by approaching you we can channelize our grievance to the right channels and some proper action can be taken with accountability.

The issue is that armed (with Lathis) people are putting unauthorized cables on poles set up by Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and stealing electricity right in the open. We as residents of Sector 21 B Faridabad have tried to oppose this open stealing but are met with fierce muscle power and foul language that as individuals we cannot stand.

Forcefully, a group of villagers (behind our sector) come with lathis on Sundays and non-working days and equipped with wooden stairs, pliers and a local electrician who put power cables and extend it to their area.This so called residential area had high powered flour mills, multiple 200 W / 500 W bulbs to light the veranda, private borewells, welding shops and air conditioners all of which are running practically free of cost.

The meters put here are a joke and are all pierced right in the open with a stop pin. All (not almost, actually all) residents of the village have put these stop pins (Hindi: sua) and the meager bill that some of these residents pay is absolutely no match for the unauthorized power they drain and the un-accounted for load they put onto the already old and withering transformers and distribution equipment in our colony.

There are countless load shedding and blown power lines and transformers in our colony because of this extra load which is unaccounted for and probably not a part of system design when the lines were being set up. We understand that some safety factor is taken into account on every design but this safety factor is long past and the whole distribution system around our sector is taking a un-precented load much beyond it's design limits.

Beyond countless powerless nights, day time load shedding, huge voltage drops and power surges we see as a result of this, we as legal consumers also have to pay much higher per unit cost of electricity because of this stealing and loss of revenue for Dakhsin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and to the country in general.
