MOST URGENT

SUB.: Statement Period 27.12.08 to 26.1.09 – Credit Card No.[protected].
Old Credit Card No.[protected] – Cobranded PNB/HSBC Card.

Madam,

I received the said statement on 5.2.09 & was surprised to note payable dues amounting to Rs.71479.61, which include Principal Debit adjustment of Rs.63937.46. However the transaction wise break up has not been provided for the said amount of Rs.63937.46.

Further, the said figure of Rs. 63937.46, as it appears, includes the transaction done between the period 28.11.08 to 9.1.09; and also balance amount payable of transactions converted to EMI and BTs availed etc., which otherwise are payable over agreed periods. The statement for the period 28.11.08 to 27.12.08 has not been received, and on taking up the matter with your Customers Care Centre, it was informed that no amount is payable in Jan., 09, due to reconciliation of transactions of HSBS-PNB Cobranded Credit Cards, which are being discontinued henceforth, on account of Partnership with PNB coming to an end.

You will kindly agree with me that arbitrarily asking for such payments, which are not due, from your customers, is highly unjustified & amounts to Breach of Trust. Your action has put me in an awkward position as payment of such heavy amount of Rs.71479.61 in one lot is practically not possible for me. You will also agree that on account of HSBC’s discontinuation of their partnership with PNB, HSBC has no right to demand repayment of dues of HSBC/PNB Cobranded Credit Cards, which are otherwise not due for payment. HSBC should either obtain concurrence of the customers before revising its agreed terms or accept payment of its dues in a reasonable & workable period, as requested by an individual customer. Since the repayment of EMIs is now being demanded much before their respective due dates, in violation of the agreed terms of their repayment, proportionate reduction of interest payable on each of these EMIs must be done & amount demanded reduced accordingly.

On taking up the matter with your Customers Care Centre on 6.2.09 in respect of aforesaid issues, it was informed that the said amount of 63937.46 can be paid in three EMIs without addition or levy of any
other charges. I requested for the same & after conveying my request to the 2nd Executive to whom my call was transferred, I was asked to HOLD ON; which I did for about 20 minutes or so & finally the phone hung without any further reply from the concerned Executive. To get the needful done, I again rang up Customer Care Centre, but again the same process was repeated & the 2nd call met the same fate as the 1st call. The aforesaid process was repeated by me for 3rd time again but this call had the same fate as that of previous two calls, with the phone getting hung every time without my knowing the fate of my request of payment of the said Principal Debit amount in three EMIs. Thus I was put to lot of inconvience & discomfort for about an hour, that too without achieving any result. I remember the name of one of the many Executives I talked to on 6th instant, was Mr. RAJIV. I again contacted your Customer Care Centre probably on 10.2.03 for the same purpose, but all in vain.

Keeping the aforesaid in view, I request that needful please be done immediately ( due date of payment being 17.9.09), to:
a) Provide Transaction wise details of Principal debit amount of Rs.63937.46.
b) Permit me to pay this Principle debit amount of Rs.63000/- odd in three EMIs.
c) Reduce the proportionate interest in respect of 4 transactions converted to EMIs & 0ne BT of Rs. 8000/- from the Principal debit amount of Rs.63937.46, since the saiddues are being demanded in anticipation of their due dates & intimate the figure of amount so reduced.
d) Provide detailed Statement for the period 28.11.08 to 27.12.08.

It may be added here that I am a retired Senior Citizen from PNB. I am holding & using HSBC Credit Card for the last about 8 years without any default in payment of my dues till date; and as such, deserves a Special Treatment from HSBC by its agreeing to my aforesaid justified requests

Thanking You.

Yours Sincerely,

(D.K. Bindra)

Sub: Discontinuation of Credit Card
Dear Madam / Sir.

I understand from communication received from my residence in Kolkata, India that you have forwarded me a bill for renewal of my Credit Card No. [protected]. The statement is for the period 26th July 08 to 26th August 08. Amounting to Rs. 594.49 ( Rupees Five Hundred Ninty Four & paisa Forty Nine Only)

Please note that I have since moved out of the country & in my present place of stay, the credit card is not valid for use. I had therefore not requested for the renewal of the same after its expiry. You will also notice that there has also been no transactions on my expired credit card for a very long time as I am no more in the country.

In view of the above, I would request you to please waive of the amount Rs. 594.49 ( Rupees Five Hundred Ninty Four & paisa Forty Nine Only) as I DO NOT NEED A RENEWAL of the card. A line in confirmation over e mail to the action will be much appreciated.

In would also take the opportunity here to Thank the team at HSBS for the excellent service that I received & also wish you all the best for the years to come.

Thanking you.

Yours Sincerely,

Soumitra Bose
