[Resolved] HCL Me Tablet — Faulty CMOS battery | |
Hi, My name is Nikil Kanchan. I bought an HCL laptop in July 2007 from Chroma Electronics, Malad, Mumbai. The laptop worked fine for a while, and then after about 3 months in October, the laptop started causing problems. It showed a CMOS battery low warning. On going to the service centre they said that the CMOS battery had moved a little so they fixed it and returned it to me the next day. It worked fine after that. Again in the end of December the same problem arose and I went back. They said that earlier they used to only remove, wipe and place the CMOS battery back, but now they have found a permanent solution and so the problem will not arise again. Now again within not even a month of rectification the same problem arises. I would jus like to say that I have bought the laptop with great amount of financial risk just to support my carrer and personal needs and the reason I chose HCL was because I thought they were a BRAND name. But sorry to say, HCL aint a brand they are just wannabe's. I would anyday from now on go for a HP or Sony laptop even if it means shelling out more money. Please help me if you can , I am looking for a replacemnent of my laptop from HCL. Thank You. Was this information helpful? | |

I have purchase my hcl beanstalk pc in 25-dec-2004 & the serial no is:- B04PAQ144611, in this machine the motherboard no:- P4P800-MX.
sir my problem is that i update my bios software of version 1004.002 but in the boot screen the hcl logo is goes out and displays the P4P800-MX & the most problem is that my windows is deactivated forever so i want my original bios software . so plz give me my motherboard's original bios software with the hcl logo that can i activate my original windows xp, the recommended file is :-P4P8MXHC.ROM, please help me out as soon.

I have a HCL AX-Mint model, purchased from Croma, Vashi. I'm facing the same problem too. I've brought my laptop in October 2007 and have taken it to the service center 6 times since then for the CMOS battery replacement issue.
The last time I visited HCL service center in Marol, Andheri (The only one service center in the whole of Mumbai!) a technician told me that the AX-Mint models are faulty with regards to the CMOS battery and the battery has to be replaced every 3 months.
Now that my warranty is over, the repair will cost me :
1) Rs 1800/- for diagnosis charges (even if we know what the issue is)
2) they wud be happy to change the battery for free.
Total cost :- 1800/-
Free?????? After paying 1800/- for a diagnosis I don't need, they are glad to change my battery for free????
This is extremely crazy !!
They better replace our laptops or find a permanent solution before we approach the Consumer Redressal Forum. If that doesn't work then go to the service center and smash the laptop on these heads. It's better than spending 2000 bucks every 2 months on the laptop. I might as well use that money to pay the EMI for a new laptop, from HP or Sony, but never from HCL !!

We've bought a Toshiba Laptop (Satelite Model) with 3 year warranty (first 1 year from Toshiba, another 2years from HCL). In second year Laptop power adapter become faulty & stop working. We'd sent to HCL to claim warranty but up-still now, after 4 months, there is no positive response. So many time I've visited to their center but always get the negative response. My request to you is if you are capable to solve this issue, nothing like it or is this just a message board, then my advice to all the people that DO NOT BUY THE TOSHIBA & HCL PRODUCT. They are just selling money wastage products.

Sir, I have forgot the CMOS password and The BOOT MENU is not choosen cd drive so how i can solute the CMOS password problem ..

I extend the computer warranty for getting good service but I think it is useless because you take long time to solve my problem. This is not the way that you take one month to resolve one complaint. My 17th of JUNE complain still pending and you are not responding. Tell me what should I do. if you do not take action then I will have to make complain to your head.
This is my request that solve my problem.

Sir i am having a hcl laptop with model k21.Actually my battery is not getting charged so i wanted to ask what is the overall cost to change battery and the adaptor.Please help me out as soon as possible.I am waiting for your reply.
i have problem in hcl monitor the screen is not working properly it looks blanks when i start the computer .sir your meerut office employeees (begam bridge)they didn't heard anything about the problem...

Onc ethe battery charging is enough (had to take a couple of fuzzy steps, remove the batter while adaptor is not connected, then connect the adaptor and switch it ON, if still doesnt work, rmeove adaptor and place battery back, SWITCH it ON without adaptor, -- this worked for me -- and then if required put adaptor for charging).
But lalter it started with CMOS battery errors (All of them - Battery low, Bad Checksum and system date error). He told me i have to replace CMOS battery, it would cost 10 bucks (only ???) ! i would be so happy to do it the only issue is m in US and i have to spend much more than that to buy this CMOS battery and maybe much more than that too replace it...
Dont know what to do yet, still making a decision. But the laptop worked fine for me for last 2 years .. not a single issue ... m disappointed i cant use it now because of this stupid issue.

People, why go for HCL ? A PEICE OF CRAP!!
I hate HCL so much that I dont find words bad enough for cussing.

Please do not purchase hcl laptop it has got very...bad perfomance customer care service centres are thief .I Have also get same problem, whenever I am switching on it always shows COMS battery is down, it is creating problem for net surfing, anyone can give any solution to resolve this problem,
