[Resolved]  Hometown - Modular Kitchen Kolkata — Terrible Experience.

Me and my wife reached the all new glossy HomeTown in Rajarhat Kolkata within a week when they opened. Looked at the Modular Kitchen section and asked for a design as per my requirements in early Aug. They were so nice to us and took the money in advance for the design. A guy came to my house and took all necessary measurements. They asked me come down to the office after a couple of days and showed me a design, which my 4 yr daughter can make without any problem. It was bogus. I showed that I am not happy and guided them with my thoughts and finally they could translate my ideas. Now the sadest part came.. I wanted an open-kitchen and asked the people at Modular Kitchen if they can take the responsibility of breaking the walls, finishing and everything else. The head representative there told me that he can arrange everything. He sent a person and he told me that he 'll take 2 days to break the wall, it took 5 days. He promised me to send 2 guys to work but sent one guy and he worked part-time. Then he told that he won't clear the rbbish.. After that, the kitchen cabinets were ready and Modular Kitchen said they 'll take 2 days to fit it. I am not beig able to explain everything but I could not use my kitchen for 2.5 months and still the kitchen fittings are not yet ready. HomeTown Modular Kitchen service is worst. You 'll definitely suffer if going for it. The customer service is horrible.. They never keep their words. Beware...

This message is from HomeTown. We regret the inconvenience caused.

We had logged your kitchen order on 28th august 09. As per the order term and conditions, 45days are required for delivering the material and the balance 50% also have to be cleared before the delivery.

The fittment of the kitchen started on 16th Oct which was well within the commited time. 17th Oct being grand pooja in Kolkata we faced great difficulty in organizing the fitters.
Since on 18th Nov you were out of station the work was not completed. You called us again after few days when you were back and the work was completed on 23rd Oct & we have also received the completion certificate duly signed by you. The kitchen was ready to use then.

As on date we have an additional order pending for this kitchen.

I am being neutral as I don't want to put all the details and lengthen the discussion. I hope the message that I wanted to send to you, has reached you.

I hope you 'll be true to yourself whenever taking an order or whatever you say when selling a product to the consumer, not for the purpose of just selling a product. Please don't commit anything that you can't do or if you have slight doubt on the job being completed in time.

People like knowing the facts upfront instead of listening next day and next day...

Customer service is the only thing that brings the win-win relationship.
I have seen the so called designers at hometown, and yes the kind of designs they come up is nothing to write home about. Well, it all depends on the quality of service and product one is willing to pay.

I am surprised that you only mentioned the service and not the product, or perhaps its too early to comment on that. Infact, I was looking at buying a modular kitchen for my kolkata apartment, and went around shopping for one. However, I was highly disappointed withe products on offer.

You see I am used to the service and product provided by Vesta kitchens in Gurgaon for my Gurgaon flat. They don't even charge for design in advance, cos they are so certain that clients would love what they offer and a very creative and proffessional company I must say and more or less at similar price levels.

Anyway all the best to you, and hope that your kitchen is functioning fine.
I am also a suffering from the pathetic customer service of modular kitchen department of Home Town Kolkata
Here I want to draw your notice from delivery point of view.Some of the employee at hometown does marketing kind of things and promising their customers to deliver the goods before delivery date.because it is too difficult to wait till a month to get a good.If hometown cant deliver the particular good in a short span of time, then the employees should not promise to make it done.We have suffered a lot on it.We ordered for a sofa and wanted it within 15 days of time.But one of the employee from the correspond department told us to deliver before time and told us to keep trust on him.according to company policy, he gave us the delivery slip of a month.Now it is over 20 days, we tried to call the representive to discuss about the status of sofa, he did not want to listen us and told different stories.

It is really painful to expect this situations from a brand like hometown.I am a regular customers of yours and purchased more than Rs 80000 goods from you.Please help me out if you can do something for me.

The most bitter experience of the town while visiting "Home Town" Rajarhat. Yesterday the 4th April I had been to Home Town and selected a hydrolic bed and a tea table. When finally the documentation was ready after one hour of waiting they asked me Rs 942/- for processing charge though it was displaying '0' % interest, Rs 50/- for lifting to first floor flat and enhanced the total price by Rs 1100/- as the system has updated the price.

The common people usually select an item looking the tagged amount but Home town has the practice of charging various amount in different reasons. So everyone shold think twice wether to purchase anything from Home Town.

I have a different opinion on the services of Hometown. They were very courteous and had generally kep their word on the delivey date.

In one of the situation, we had some problem with the fitment and when we complained, it was promptly replaced. I am sorry to hear such experiences from other consumers.

In fact, I had recommended some of the colleauges to them and have not heard anything adverse from them. They are expensive compared to many local manufacturers...but then they provide guarantee to some of the least that is what I experienced.

Dear Sir/ Madam

I am writing to you in reference to the worst services provided by Hometown after we purchased the premium products for renovation of my bathroom on dated 12/12/2010.The goods purchsed on 12/12/2010 and there are a number of complains i have against the services provided by Hometown which are as follows:
1) Incomplete delivery of materials as per advance receipt no : [protected] which lead to us buying new materials again as per your Supervisor Mr. Sukanto & the contractor Mr. Subir Das's requirement.
2) The layout of the bathroom as shown to me by Ms. Ranjeeta has not been constructed. Due to wrong planning of the Hometown's Architect the glass cannot be laid .This wrong drawing has lead to wrong deliverey of materials etc.The wrong planning of the layout has lead to major losses for my next floors bathroom. This has incurred extra burden on us & major damage on the property.
3) The Supervisor Mr. Sukanto has has charged us Rs. 6000 towards supervision fees. He has told us that this supervision fees is for his visit on the site for 6times till completion. But till now he has come not more than 2 - 3 times wheras the money has already been paid to him for 6 visits.
4) Mr. Sukanto while his visit on 21/05/2011 had confirmed that the bathroom will be reday to use within 10 days starting work on 23/05/2011 having labours working day & night shifts. Unfortunately today is the 20th day but the bathroom is still not completed. We have tried to contact the supervisor but no response from his end.

The materials in Hometown are pretty expensive as compared to the market rates & even their labour charges are higher than usual market rates. We expected some good services in return of our huge investments but i would agree that investing in Hometown can be the biggest blunder anyone can make in life. Their supervision, labour, services are pathetic, very poor, unprofessionals.

I would suggest all my friends & family to be beware of the Hometown services.

Its horrible service provided by Hometown. Its been more than a year -- we booked our modular kitchen through HT, its been installed and running -- however till date -- the warranty card has not yet been issued -- WHY -- initially it was issued wrongly -- when pointed out over the same to respective Supervisor -- it was supposedly to be corrected immediately -- however its been more than 5 months now -- and the correction is yet to happen !

Moreover to that recently we booked an Window AC -- and it was supposed to be delivered within 10 days -- its more than a month now -- after repeated follow ups we have been told -- they will not be able to deliver the said item -- Reason -- Out of Stock -- was it not known to the respective person in EZone Dept? When questioned about the refund of the amount which had been paid while booking the said material --we are given to understand they are still working on the same and will respond (god knows when will they have the time to respond !)

Customer Service will never respond proactively and will never provide the exact status.

These hometown people are just there to cheat customers. Me too suffered badly by these irresponsible people. My total money gone wastage to the poor quality modular kitchen. The accessories already got rust and cabinets started affected by termite. Several times I complained but no one attended. Beware of this jerk.

Extra amount of Buy 1 get 1offer product also added in Total Bill

I have bought Lion Dates food product(200g), which was in offer of Buy 1 & get1 free.Each qty is of 49.00rs only.and they have totaled a bill of 98.00rs.

Thanks a lot for all these informations. we are supposed to buy modula kitchen, Bed, other many things for our new flat .

So now we have change our mind. Not to buy any single product from this shop.
