[Resolved]  ICFAI University — Withdrawal from the course is pain and one ends up paying huge amount

Hi,

Withdrawing from the ICFAI course is a pain. I had issued 18 PDCs and have already paid 13 PDCs...only 5 PDCs are remaining now.

I had issued stop payment to the PDC after sending an email to them requesting I want to discontinue from the course.

Now, even after I'm saying I will settle the remaining amount and want to withdraw from the course, SSD department (ICFAI) is not responding to any of my emails.

I'm not sure what do they want? Even after agreeing to pay the money, they don't listen. I had called them up (to their main head office, Hyderabad) and the response i received was please continue with the course.

I don't understand when I'm paying the entire amount, why are they forcing me to continue with the course? A student has rights to discontinue from their course anytime he/she wants. There is no rule or disclosure agreement which says student can never discontinue from the course.

This is very frustrating. Please do something about this university. I think they want to steal more money from students by stopping them from withdrawing.

Existence of such an university is a shame for all o[censored]s. I have not seen so many complaints logged for any other university like ICFAI.

If any one googles on ICFAI University complaints, one will get a huge list of complaints. Even the current students of ICFAI don't appreciate ICFAI University. Look into the ICFAI students group and you will see a lots of complaints.

Is there anyone out there who is listening to our pains? If yes, please do something about this. Our pain should not go waste. Atleast in the future students should not suffer pain because of such Universities.

Thanks for listening to me!

I have enrolled in MCA program ( Distance learning program) in kolkata on july 2006 and from 2006 to
jan 2008 i have given 6 times exams but not passed. all time
they published exam marks which i think not correct , may be
intensionally made student failed so that they can earn exam
fees every time. They have taken the whole course fees of Rs. 54,000/- whereas other university/institution takes it
semiestarwise of 6 months and after completion of 1st semiestar
, they take the fees of 2nd semiestar. but ICFAI taken all
semiestar fees. They only spend for me that 8 books and one month class.
Can anyone help me so that i can get my money back. If ICFAI
want to deduct money from Rs. 54,000/- then also O.K. But I want some refund because I don't want to continue, may be
there standard is higher than calcutta university or sikkim manipal university etc. because some of my friends gone through final year of MCA program in sikkim manipal and there qualification and standard are more or less same like me.

Although I made mail to Dean of student service department regarding this matter but they not replied 2-3 times and finally
they replied not possible to refund.

Please someone help me .....

Dear All,

I am a MBA student of ICFAI university having enrolled in the yr 2006, but due to some problems i was not able to give exams and i have made the complete payment for the MBA course fees. Now i like to shift to the course of MRIM and get myself. If i have made a payment an amount of Rs.80000 and above for MBA course also the course is valid till date 2012 then why now i cannot go for the course which cost only Rs.27000 and adjust my money accordingly.

If it is not done i have to approach media for the same and get justice.
Hi Sushmitha!

You have joined the program by choice and it is not advisable to hopple in between. Remember that professional programs require attention to detail since beginning to reap the desired benefits. My advice would be to continue with the program. Best of luck.
I have joined MBA flexible programme on June 2006. I have noticed that there is a gross inconsistencies in checking exam papers. Some person with same nos. of correct answers getting 75% to 85% marks & some gets 60% marks.
I am forced to buy old question papers by paying huge amount. Sometimes, faculties with the help of Old students earning huge money by selling these question papers. I'm sure there must be a chain of ICFAI employees involved in this racket.
Hello,

This is for all the students who have been cheated and are being tortured by the ICFAI. I am among one of them.

We are totally ruined by ICFAI. This course doesn't have value. A person who complets the course with great difficulty, stress and loss of money doesn't even have the value equal to a normal young student who has parsued B. Sc course from a better institute.

Please friends save your energy for some resourceful work. Please gather a list of as many contacts as possible and log a coplaints against ICFAI. include [protected]@gmail.com if there is any update.

Place your concerns with RBI as Banking Ombudsman at:

http://www.rbi.org.in/SCRIPTs/bs_viewcontent.aspx?Id=164#

Photon Capital Advisors (PHOTON), incorporated in 1985, is a registered non banking finance company as per the RBI guidelines. After receiving such complaints I am sure the company will be blacklisted as the HIFCO MARWELL its previous entity had been.
Someone above had mentioned writting to International Consumer Rights Protection Council at [protected]@consumergrievance.com. This seems to be another hoax, a fraud, way to extort money.
Dear Friends,

I also got enrolled myself in MBA program in 2006 at Bagnalore, till now I am not able to clear the exam, I want to discontinue this course as this course doesn't have value. A person who completes the course with great difficulty, stress and loss of money doesn't even have the value(my company says they can not consider if I complete it also as this is not an recognized university). So I would request anyone to help me in getting my hard earned money back of Rs.60, 000/-(atleast some amount) so that I can join any other good institute and do my MBA.
true
I too agree with the complaint, because even am facing such a scenario as you people did. Am a bachelor, i have too many responsiblities towards my family, am the only source of Finance within my family. I enrolled into a MBA program by making a initial payment of 18000, thinking i can complete my program, but unfortunately recession hit my salary from which i cannnot afford to pay anymore.. I communicated with the SSD dept, but they dint listen up. I have sent too many e-mails regarding to dis-continue the program, but only response is to continue the program without understanding my commitments & my responsibilities.
dont pay any amount to ICFAI further, just ignore all the legal notice. and relax. ICFAI is not at all
authorised to conduct any courses, neither it is approved by AICTE nor regonised by the UGC.
HI Pinaki!

As I understand, Universities do not require AICTE approval. Only Institutes / bodies which are not Universities require the same.

Dear Mr./Ms.Biby George,

At the outset, you have made allegations without indicating the details. As per our records, you have enrolled into the MBA program in April’ 2006 and have cleared group A of the program.

The validity of the program is 7 years from the date of enrolment.

Further note that the program was restructured with effect from October’ 2008, that is two years after your enrollment. The schedule of examination is announced at least a year in advance.
Please note that the regulation in force clearly indicates that there is no provision for refund of the program fee.

Hence if you have any issues, you are advised to write to [protected]@icfaiuniversity.in for necessary clarification.
