[Resolved]  India Today Book Club — Cheating by assuring winning in Sweepstakes & getting shopping orders

Pls refer to all the email communication below which may look to be very long but clearly states the irresponsible behavior of India Today Book Club.

I am completely disturbed mentally & in the financial crunch due to non-refund of my cancelled orders by India Today even after so many weeks now. I do not have any guarantee of getting refund which is causing more & more mental harassment of mine for which only ITBC is responsible.

Seek your support to get this issue resolved.

Thanks for your clarification but it is not clear at all & in line with my queries. I am neither satisfied with the answers as for every order placed by me, I was told that this is mandatory to enter the sweepstakes & that would be the last purchase required to enter in the sweepstakes. Even after this, there were some more calls to book further orders which I refused.

At the end, I am firm on my decision of cancellation of orders due to distrust in my mind about ITBC. As requested by you, I have already rejected your first delivery of DVD player today. Hope other two orders have been already cancelled by you for the despatch itself & will not my come to me for delivery.

Pls confirm URGENTLY when the amounts will be credited back to my credit card accounts on urgent basis to avoid charging of interest on the same.

Dear Ankita,

All these orders were booked by me based on your teams confirmation that these orders are must for continuing my participation in the sweepstakes. Every time I use to get the promises that this will be the last order to be booked but almost every/alternate day I was getting for booking of new order being must to continue entry for the sweepstakes.

I was also given following false promises :
I am out 21 final entries for the final draw of sweeptakes.
I will be the only candidate from Maharashtra to contest here.
There is 99 % of chance to win 1 lac or 8 lac price only if I book these orders or else my chances are very rare.
Even on Sunday I got another call again that I need to book another one (fourth) order (from Amit) so that I can get locking code from them which is must to have for a winner of sweepstake & even if I am a winner, i will not get the prize without this locking code.
I was scared of being cheated by all this & hence when I checked with you customer service finally, I was told that none of the purchases are must to confirm entry in the sweepstakes. Even when I told this to your order booking staff (who was forcing me to book the order everytime by instructing that these purchases are must for me to enter in the final sweepstakes), I was told that customer service is not aware as sweepstakes are keeping all the things confidential & hence CS may not be aware of this. When I called CS again, I was not given a clear answer about the sweepstakes confusing me more & more.

When I checked in the internet about this sweepstakes, I could find only the complaints about this for every year & no document is available to confirm its genuineness.

Pls note that I am feeling cheated with all this episode & I am disturbed mentally also as i made these purchases even though I was not having enough money with me & had to pay interest for all these amounts for credit cards, just because I was told that these orderings are must for sweepstakes. You are kindly requested to cancel all the three orders placed by me & ensure that the money is immediately refunded in my respective credit card accounts.

I received an E mail from Books today say I have won the prize in form of entire Reebok kit by just paying price for a pair of shoes.

I visited the Reebok showroom in my town and the person said he doesn't have to do anything with this issue.

Who is book today promoter? Is it India Today?

Dear sir,
The name indian taoday is a trusted brand in india and these people are offering gifts and prizes on buying books. Then the prize they send is with some sort of number which is essentail to claim the prize. But one cant find the number at all. Please see this and take action.
No refund or any confirmation from India Today yet.
