[Resolved]  Kalyani Tours and Travels — mis-management and ill behaviour by tour manager

My mother Mrs Dipti Sen had booked a travel package from the private tour operating company Kalyani Tours and Travels, based in Sealdah, kolkata(ph-[protected]/7293).The package included 2 nights stay in Shimla, 2 nights and 2 days in manali, 2 nights and 2 days in 2 nights in Dharamshala, 2 nights 2 days in Dalhousie and finally 1 and half day and 1 night in amritsar.This package does seem interesting and hence few other families too had booked this.our tour manager was Mr.Proloy Das.My mother and I had boarded on Amritsar mail on 16th june at 7.30pm.We had to stay on board for 2 nights before we reached Ambala at 2.45 a.m.The train had reached its destination on exact time, perhaps upsetting many plans of our tour manager, who then kept us waiting in the platform for 3 hours.finally at 6.30, we boarded in the bus which was booked along with the other families, which included 6 children and 2 aged person.The bus was uncomfortable.next we were made to wait for 2 hrs on account of some mistakes in the toll-papers.after a rather tiring journey we were lodged into a very shabby hotel which ran out of water at night.For each and every destination then onwards we were lodged into sub-standard hotels(except for the one in Manali), we were mostly given egg-curry for lunch, or vegetarian food.Whenever they gave chicken or mutton, it was toospicy and rich for the children to digest, and as a consequence all of them started to fall sick, mostly on the days major journeys(minimum 10 to 14 hrs) were to be made.None of our suggestions were taken on the food to be cooked for the meals, and neither did they pay any attention to the ones falling sick.On the days of the journeys and even during our stays in hotels, they were not kind enough to offer anything to the children as a substitute for tea(which most children refused to drink for obious reasons).Although the tour manager claimed to have visited these places at least 14 times, he didn't seem to have the slightest idea that a bus, such as the one booked for us, was not suitable for the roads going up to bashisht mani's ashram, rohtang pass etc.as a result everyone had to climb up a distance of 5km before getting a glimpse of the ashram which had just closed a few while ago;and in rohtang pass the bus made a tremendously risky journey, which would not have been the case if our "experienced" tour manager had been wise enough to book smaller cars.In places like jwalaji ki mandir too we were taken in such an hour that we had only ten minutes in our hand to take a glimpse before the mandir closed.In none of the places visited were we offered guides.On the day we were on our way to Amritsar, we were made to eat in a cheap dhaba with no toilet facilities for the ladies.The first place we got proper toilet facilities was at Wagha border, after having travelled for continuous 8.5 hrs.At amritsar station (28th may), thy declared that our luggage was no longer their duty and that they would only pay for the food in the train, which certainly was vegetarian food(though none o[censored]s were vegetarian).

I hope just steps would be taken against such concerns which run on pure business motives, undermining the interests and comfort of its customers.They should be punshished such that they are compelled to think twice before promising its customers of a memorable tour and then leading them into such uncomfortable and helpless situation.

I was also included on that package. Mr. Proloy Das did many unethical matters which I fetched very well.Thanks for Your posting.
Even if I assume that the complaints have substantial material, then this must be an isolated incident. As my close relatives have traveled with Kalyani Tours and Travels several times and they were overall very happy considering that a long tour can never be a 100% full proof and each and every one's 100% satisfaction.

We had a similar bad experience in the same tour during Puja 2011. Our tour manager was Mr. Chakraborty. He was also an ill manaered, least informed person. Many o[censored]s got seek due to improper foods and bad management and they weren't bothered about that.
