[Resolved]  National Institute Of Management (Nim) — Fees Refund

Hi,

I enrolled in the National Institute of Management (NIM), Vadodara for their Dual Masters MBA programme in May 2008. I paid 35,000/- as fees. In September I moved to Pune as I got job there. Once I was settelled in Pune, I was planning to appear for the first semester exams in January 2009.

However, in December, 2008 when I visited Vadodara, I read in the news paper that NIM's Vadodara centre was cought in the fake marksheet and degree cirtificate scandle. I tried to get some information on the same, but unable to do so as police had sealed their Vadodara office and there was no one from the NIM to answer any queries. Luckly I had to personal mobile number of the NIM consultant who processed my enrolment request. She gave me a brief idea of actually what had happend. However, she was unclear as to when will the office be opened and we can get answers to our queries.

In the mean time, I returned to Pune and started enquiring about the effect of this incident on the validity of the NIM cirtificate. After consulting my senior managers at my organization, I decided to withdraw my enrollment from NIM. As most of the people suggested that with such a reputation, the degree from NIM will not do any good for my career.

I approached the consultant in Vadodara, and she in turn guided me to their Ahmedabad office saying that the refund requests are handled from their Ahmedabad office as Vadodara office is sealed by the authorities. I approached their Ahmedabad office with the refund application. They assured me that I will get the refund within 3 months time after deducting some 20% towards administration charges. I agreed to this.

However, gradually they started showing tantraums and making excuses for delaying my refund. After following up with them for almost 6 months, they diverted me to their Mumbai office saying it will be faster from there.

Here also, no proper response was given to me. I tried to get in touch with the concerned person and could got hold of him only after 3 weeks of regular calling. There also he promissed me to process my refund within 45 days and then on no proper response was given.

The current situation is that it has been 10 months now since I have applied for my fees to be refunded. However, till date i have not received my money back nor i have received any proper feedback from any one in the NIM.

NIM is cheating people with such offers of getting the higher degree at a lower costs and that too through the distance learning mode. But in reality every thing is fake. Their cirtificates have no values in the market but still they are claiming to be one of the best in the industry. !!!!!

I have decided to go to the Consumer court and fight this out....

if someone from the legal department is reading this complaint, I request them to please try to investigate this ini details and take necessary steps so that innocent people are not cheated on the name of education...
