[Resolved]  Nokia N8 — Cheating by Nokia Care in Kolkata

I had purchased unfortunately a Nokia N8 on 5th Aug , 2011 @ 21400 /- from Nokia Priority Centre Camac street, Kolkata. Initially all was going well. on 16th Aug I had taken some snaps thru camera. After that I had noticed that LCD had developed a spot on the right hand top corner , but not at the extreme side. Taken the problem to the Nokia care , Kalighat. Initially they have told that might have fallen from my hand, and then after when they have not able to find any scratch on the body they told that some liquid spot have been found on the screen.
I believe that is absolutely cheating with the customer, and Nokia should seriously look in all these activities of 3rd party Nokia Care centre as these centers are becoming more of a business centre rather than problem solving centre.
I have spoken to the director of the CUSTOMER AFFIRS AND FAIR BUSINESS PRACTICES, and I have told the full story to him. He have suggested me to visit at his place with one written complaint, which will be done by tomorrow.
For all of your information I would like to say I am using one samsung windows phone as well GT7300 , and that had felt in toilet once, nothing has happened to the LCD , and I am using the same happily.
This note is not for creating bad name for Nokia, actually problems might come, and companies might be serious to these problems as well , but some 3rd party Nokia Care centre is trying to earn money thru cheat, and that is where I would like to register my concern.
Special Note: After opening my LCD some scratches also developed at the back side of the LCD.

I might be wrong, Hence a detail enq required, that is why I shall go to consumer care. Shall update regarding the developments.
As an update I am sharing the mail written to Nokia from my end...NOKIA is free to reply me personally or here as well...Let people get both the communications...on this platform...

A small briefing about me:

I am an Engineering graduate from Jadavpur University, then XLRI - J, worked 4 years in Britannia Industries, R&D Engg division as Engg Manager, and I am now working for AB|Mauri and looking after their flavour business for East, NE, Bangladesh ...By the way, , No intension to Join NOKIA, rather want to say what kind of person I am. 22 K spending for a phone is not very serious matter for me at present and hence you can understand repairing with only 5 K is not an issue...But where is business ethics ??...

My past exp with NOKIA:

My wife had purchased 2 cells of ( I think Nokia classic 2700 ) for her father and father in low...Unfortunately both the cells have seen Nokia care with in a month due to internal manufacturing defect...I think I can produce the papers also. So my wife was dead against of Nokia.

Why I am feeling angry now ?
1. I could have listned to my wife's call about NOKIA, Not to purchase it.
2. I have used only 12 days this nokia n8 and that is also like a baby, and the LCD gave off,
3. Oh my god !!! Nokia Care !!!

Today they were asking me 5300 INR for the same, and yesterday they had asked for around 4900 INR. Anywys, I was provided @4950.00...It was an offer exclusively for me...told to me..
I had visited the consumer forum today, not able to meet director as he was not present, but I was not having that much time for waiting for a day as I dont know what Nokia Care had done to my cell and the LCD became useless with in 24 hrs.It might be such also that they have not done any thing and the LCD was bad by default.

I would like to know how water spot can do such damage !! I feel that was internal manufacturing problem, and they were trying to hide and have done some profit out of it saying liquid spot on it.

Now what is my stand

I am very happy with a Samsung guru, and Samsung E490, Samsung Windows GT7300, I was a full mad, gone for a change with NOKIA, paid the price ( 27 K approx) for it, I shall purchase many brand in future ... that will not be NOKIA for sure.

What loss NOKIA will have out of it ??

Nothing, They have Mr.SRK with them, what will they loose if one family will not purchase NOKIA ?? Is it not ??

No response still now from NOKIA...One call had came from customer care saying that "our executive will call you", one of the NO-KIA- Care manager called me and suggested some lows of Land and told me will come back after the enquiry...Then after nothing...


Now the local consumer forums mail box also bouncing back my mails...
