Passport Office, Delhi — delay in renewal of passport

I had submitted my passport for renewal on[protected] vide File No-G001560 dated[protected] by depositing the applicable fee of Rs.1000/-. Till date the needful is yet to be done and on enquiry, the status of the same is being informed as "pending for police verification". I have made several visists to the passport office requesting them to expedite the renewal of my pass port as I have to go abroad with my husband for some time on a tour.
