[Resolved]  Reliance Energy Ltd. — Faulty Billing & unhelpful customer service by RELIANCE ENERGY

I reside at C/206, Regency Building, Raviraj Complex, Jesal park, Bhayandar(East), thane:- 401105.
We receive electricity by reliance energy Ltd. in our area.
The account no. is[protected].
The number o[censored]nits of electricity consumed as per the meter readings at my account usually varies between 120 to 150.
for which the bill amount generated on an average varies between Rs.400 to Rs.600.
The bill amount and the meter readings have remained consistent in the same range for over 10 years now and we have never faced any problems with the bill amount.
But suddenly the meter reading for the month of May2008, calculated from 16-Apr-08 to 17-May-08, is recorded as 309, for which the bill amount generated is Rs.1350
This reading and the bill generated cannot be possible as my previous bill amounts were Rs. 440, 540, 460, 470, 580, 530, 480 and so on in the same range.
I have not added any new electrical appliance at the residence, moreover the power consumption has also remained the same as the pevious months, instead there was no power consumption for almost 5 days in the billing period as there was no one at home due to vacations.
We do not have A.C. and washing machine, etc. which may consume more power. Instead we are a family of just two members.
On calling the Reliance Energy helpline 30303030, and talking to the customer service executive(named Anil) today(22-May-08), I got no help as the CSE just generated a complaint no.[protected] and told me to pay the bill amount even if it is faulty. They will inquire from their side after 15 days.
So now i am being told to pay the excess bill amont unnecessarily for the electricity which is not even used by me and even before the due date 11-Jun-08, but the company cannot gaurantee a reply for correcting a faulty bill from their end before the due date of the bill.
I request the Consumer Forum to Address my Grieverence against Reliance energy for sending me a faulty bill with excess amount of almost 3 times the usual amount and moreover the
Customer service of the company for not cooperating, even after explaining the time limitation of the due date.
This has been a serious shock after suddenly getting an electricity bill amount of Rs.1350 from the expected Rs.500 and that too when no excess electricity is actually being used.
