[Resolved]  Shaha Finlease — Wrong information updated in CIBIL

I had subscribed to CIBIL report in the month of Mar '11 and I am surprised to see one credit card information stated in my account which does not belongs to me.

The information reads as Credit card from SHAHA and opened on[protected] and last payment on[protected] and status as Written off. The amount over due is shown as Rs 4,63,478.00. I had never taken a credit card from SHAHA/Standard Chartered Bank and had it written off/defaulted.

I have written to Shaha about this and have not received any reply yet. I would like to take this up with consumer court if I don't receive an update.

Deepak

I am not sure if you understand the dynamics of selling bad loans across financial institutions. In your case please note that SCB has sold huge bad loan portfolio to this company SHAHA in mumbai for a good price. In turn SHAHA instead of collecting the dues have uploaded the data on CIBIL which is the easiest way of getting the customer contact the bank for having their loan on default status. You should not ignore this, please take up seriously with the bank and solve the same, alternatively you can contact me as well for a resolution on this

This complain is against Standard Chartered Bank and Shaha Finlease company. I had taken a credit card from Standard Chartered Bank in 2001. In 2003 I was asked to close the card. I was in Kuwait in that point of time, so my husband made a demand draft for Rs.50000/- and sent it to Standard Chartered bank, Mumbai. I followed up with the bank for a NOC or settlement letter, which I never recieved. The official kept on saying that it not a required to take any letter and the account is closed.

After 8 years I recieve a call from Shaha Finlease stating that the same credit card account from Standard Chartered has not closed. The amount has increased and its currently 3 Lakhs. I did tell them that the account is closed, they say that the account is still active. Since I didn't have any proof of payment after 8 years, I thought of negotiating. The executive want me to close the account for Rs.30000/-. When I aked them for statement of account, they did not provide the same.I realise that Shaha Finleae does not have any statement of account and merely extracting money from customer. There are a many complains against the similar extortion. Shaha Finlease is calling the customer staying abroad or the account which are closed long time back to extract forceful money from them. They are threating and using foul language.

They also state that my name has been black listed in Satyam. When I asked the black listed details, they say its confidential. Why would my details be kept confidential from me? There are few question which pops up. What was the bank doing for 8 years, were they sleeping? If they had the contact number, why didn't they contact the customer in earlier instance? Where are the monthly statement for 8 years? why aren't they furnishing the same? Standard Chartered Bank has sold the old liabilities to Shaha Finlease. In this process of handover they have also given of the closed account.

Now the customers who have already closed the account also are suffering. If the accounts were still active and the dues were not paid, why didn't the bank contact the customer earlier. Why did they wait for 8 years, even when they had the official contact number for the customer?

The Shaha Finlease is literally threating me with dire consequences and creating discomfort for me in the work place.

Harrasement by Standard chartered bank and their recovery agents

HI,
I would like to complaint against the Standard Chartered Credit team and their recovery agency. They are continuously calling me, to my entire known person and at my naani’s numbers using abusive and treating language. Their recovery agency person Mr. Manoj (from Jogeshwari) is repeatedly calling on my numbers. He is threatening me to pay the amount (whatever amount is he saying) otherwise they'll "torture my family" and even to the extent of hurting me physically. He is repeatedly calling my mom & my naani by the following number – 67373695. I repeatedly asked them settle the account with a justifiable amount & give me time to arrange i.e. principal amount but they never bothered and always delaying the matter and their recovery agents were misguiding me recovering unnecessary amount. This shows that the bank was always interested in making heavy interest from the customer. I was using this OD credit Account 2-3 years back. I was also having the credit card account and settled last month, some person from recovery agency started calling me and saying that he is calling from court and there is complaint against me and they issued a non-bailable warrant and forcing me to pay to stop this activity, which I refused then started using abusive language and threatening me, my mom & naani. They are doing so continuesally . I would request you to help me out. I am ready for the one time settlement. I am ready (and was always ready) to pay the amount I had actually used from the bank but not the heavy unjustified charges in the form of interest or penalty. Please help me to resolve this matter.

thanks & Regards

Harrasement by Standard chartered bank and their recovery agents

Mr. manoj –[protected] . Jogeshwari West Mumbai

Thanks
No doubt, they are scamster and they should be behind bar for their threating act. Any update?
I had taken a Credit Card from Standard Chartered in the year 2000. Since I got an offer in Abroad, the said card was closed in the month May 2003 by paying an amount of INR 19000/- which is my last payment through a cheque drawn at Global Trust Bank and same was dropped at one of the Standard chartered provided boxes in Ameerpet, Hyderabad and maintained sufficient funds to clear this cheque in my account. Unfortunately neither I get the NOC nor any communication from Stanchart after this payment.

After Eight and Half years I recieved a call from a recovery agent from Hyderabad who is authorised by Shaha Finlease authorised person (according to his conversation he said he is from Legal and Fraud Department ) stating that the same credit card account from Standard Chartered has not closed. The amount has increased and its currently near;y 4.65 lakhs. I was really astonished with his call and worried. Then I did tell him that the account is closed, they say that the account is still active. Since I didn't have any proof of payment after Eight and Half years (even the GTB bank account number also), I'm in a big confusion. Yesterday the recovery agent again called me and had a serious conversation, after several altercations When I questioned him for the past Eight and Half years what are you doing? then how did you get the contact details now?? He is not all listening to my statement nor responding to my queries. Later he directly asked me "how much you can pay" and "you don't call/deal anybody in this regard except me".I requested him to provide statement of account, they did provide me in the text format, which is unclear. However, I approached one of the customer services of Stanchart here in my work place to get the details and they did ask me to contact in India online services. Then I approached online customer services and since the rights sold to Shaha Finlease they asked me to contact them for the details. I immediately requested Shaha Finlease to provide the details in the Standardchart monograph (letter head) format, which I haven't received yet and this recovery agent is now giving threatning call stating that if you couldn't settle this issue we will bind a case on you. I realise that Shaha Finleae does not have any proper statement of account and merely trying to extract money from the customer.. However, I never dealt with Shaha Finlease nor taken such huge money with this people. I'm in a big confusion since this issue closed closed long time back to extract forceful money from them. The recovery agent is now literally threatning me with dire consequences and creating embarrassment for me in the work place.

However, in my recent visit to India I had applied for the homeloan with one of my bankers and the loan was sanctioned without any problem. If I didn't clear this issue or pay the money it should immediately come to my notice in the verification, but not...

Now I came to know many a customers who have already closed the account are also suffering. If the accounts were still active and the dues were not paid, why they didn't contact the customer earlier. Why did they wait till Eight and Half Years and calling now?!!, even when they had the official contact number for the customer?

In view of the above I need a immediate opinion in this regard to conclude this matter.

Thank you, Saradhi
This is really disturbing to know that how ordinary hard working people are taken for a ride and bank like Standard chartered still continue to fleece gullible people. all this is happening under the nose of our Reserve Bank of India and our government also just closes its eyes and watch foreign banks robbing its own citizens mercilessly. There may be instances that some people who cheat the banks through misuse of credit cards by getting them and only to check those elements the cibil report and other measures are introduced. But organizations like standard chartered banks misuse this this provision to the hilt to their advantage and actually worse than the criminal elements who misuse the credit cards. Urgently something needs to be done in this regard.
I was issued a credit card by Standard chartered bank and I think it was in 2001. It was the first credit card to me. They have issued to me without asking by me but only after taking signatures in the application form, actually I was elated to have it and enjoyed to flash my new credit card and and I felt like it gave new status to me. All were fine with my limited and careful usage for two years. After 2 years I was told that I have to pay Rs.2000/- per annum as fees and I can enjoy some privileges. That may be true but i I felt like not interested in paying by the time as I received lifetime free card from Icici bank.

Then I called up the standard chartered bank and informed requested one fine morning to cancel my credit card. The person who attended my call told me that my request was registered and would be cancelled in seven days time. I took their word in all seriousness and as told I destroyed the card also. I have not requested by issuing a letter and taking the acknowledgement. I asked for the reference number for the request made by me for the cancellation of the card and the person at the other end informed that they do not have such practice. But to my surprise after a gap of say one or two months my card was debited with royal sundaram health insurance policy for Rs.1940/- and statements were to issued to pay towards the premium for the policy. They said that they got oral confirmation from me over cell for the issuance of policy which I refused to pay. Very soon this amount went up to Rs.6000/- to 7000/- with penalties and fines and one fine morning a person landed up in my home asking for the cash in settlement. Then only I realised the seriousness of the matter and consulted a lawyer and as per his advice sent a letter that I never gave confirmation for the issuance of the the policy and I am not liable to pay. In fact I spent around Rs.3000/- towards the lawyer fees and wasted considerable amount of my precious time. The wise and good lawyer of mine actually suggested me to pay the bank instead of paying his fees. But I only foolishly insisted on issuing the notice thinking that without a mistake on my part why should I pay and I should teach a lesson to the bank so that in future they will not harass the people like me. That time I did not know that they are professionally in to cheating of the gullible people with the indirect support of our government and RBI to run their business as they wish.

After my first notice they put up brave face and replied that I am liable only and shall make all moves to collect their dues from me legally. But with continuous correspondence by me through lawyer stating that if they have any proof for my acceptance for the issuance of the said heath insurance policy i will pay. Then the tone and tenor of their approach went down and I felt like I won the battle successfully. But actually it was not. One day I was actually called over by phone and they suggested that they will come for a settlement with me and issue Noc letter stating that all dues were settled if I agree to pay and I may suggest myself the amount. I told that as a gesture of goodwill I will pay one rupee and shall not pay anything more. The person on the other side hung up without a word and that was the last call I received from them. After two years or so I have thrown all the correspondence I kept for reference as it was occupying huge amount of space thinking that I won the case. I do not even have the number of credit card I used.

After that I applied for credit cards which came in my way without its asking but I did not get issued. After a gap of 7 years I applied for a housing loan with SBI which got refused on the basis of some adverse report in cibil pertaining to a dealing in 2003. It was a great shock to me but I made my own arrangement and bought the flat without a loan. I was surprised and angered at the development and now I came to know that only because of such adverse remark in the cibil report of mine, I was not issued the credit card. that came in my way and the refusal of housing loan. But I have availed a credit card loan from icici bank and also a housing loan with my bankers Lakshmi Vilas Bank during 2005 & 2006 which all I paid promptly and in most of the cases prepaid. Also wish to inform that original disputed amount was Rs.1940/- only and now it stands at Rs.50000/- or more and it goes up with each time you refer my cibil report. I am told that my credit rating is 800 something with cibil which is good and recently also I availed a car loan for Rs.350000/- with sundaram finance and repayment is for one year.

Now I want to remove my adverse remark from the cibil report but not willing to pay the standard chartered bank. kindly let me know what to do.

Regards,

G.Srinivasan.
