Southern Railway — LADIES FACING PROBLEMS IN SUBURBAN TRAIN IN BEACH-TAMBARAM SECTION

SIR, I AM REGULAR USER OF SUBARBAN TRAIN SERVICE IN BEACH – TAMBARAM SECTION FROM 1986. NOWADAYS I FACE DIFFICULTIES TO BOARD AND ALIGHT FROM THE TRAIN BECAUSE THE LADIES COMPARTMENT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRAIN IS HARDLY FOUND IN TRAINS. TODAY MORNING (22.05.2009) I BOARDED THE TRAIN BY 08.55 HRS AT TAMBARAM SANATORIUM. IT’S A 12 CAR TRAIN. THERE IS NO MIDDLE LADIES COMPARTMENT. GENTS OCCUPIED HALF OF THE COMPARTMENT. WHEN WE ASKED THEM THEY ARE ARGUING TO SHOW ANYWHERE “LADIES” NAME IS MENTIONED IN THIS COMPARTMENT. WE COULD NOT ALIGHT FROM THE TRAIN AT GUINDY STATION BECAUSE OF HEAVY CROWD IN A SMALL SPACE. WHY THIS IS HAPPENING DAILY. IF WE WAIT FOR THE NEXT TRAIN ALSO THE SAME THING WILL HAPPEN OR IT MAY BE A 9 CAR TRAIN WHERE THERE WON’T BE LADIES COMPARTMENT AVAILABLE IN THE MIDDLE. WE HAVE TO RUN TO THE FRON OR REAR OF THE TRAIN. CAN PREGANENT WOMEN AND OLD PEOPLE RUN?? CAN THE AUTHORITIES LOOK INTO THIS MATTER SERIOUSLY AND ALLOT A COMPARTMENT EXCLUSIVELY FOR LADIES IN THE MIDDLE WITH NAME BOARD IN THE FRONT OF THE COMPARTMENT CLEARLY MENTIONED. What Bhuvana says is 100% right, Railways claiming to have highest head count in India, are not bothered about the plight of Ladies. There's no announcement, whether a 9 car or 12 car is expected.
IN 12 CAR if 3 COMPARTMENTS are allotted that makes only 25%
IN 9 CAR if 3 COMPARTMENTS are allotted that makes only 33%

Inspite of Govt. promising allotment quota to Ladies, why is this not getting implemented in Railways. I know, the ladies have given some nominations to Railways too, asking for Middle compartment as Ladies.

Worst is people who live in Perungalathur. The Railways are cool about having a 9 car Platform only, so ladies can never board 1st Ladies compartment & middle compartment is at the grace of Railways... so we need to run from Front to Last compartment on seeing a 12 cars...

Authorities, please think is this not miserable...

Yes I too have suffered a lot. I board the bus in Guduvancherry and get down at Tambaram.

On[protected], I was deeply hurt by 4 ladies pushing out of heavy rush. If we have Miiddle ladies, the crowd would have been scattered. . We are not getting any announcement, whether we have middle ladies or not. We are forced to run to the last ladies, once the train arrives. This happens Daily.

Please help us to make our Travel little easy and SAFE.
