[Resolved]  Spice Jet Airlines — Non delivery of meal which was paid for in advance

I had booked a seat on Flt. SG 286 from Kochi to Chennai for 22 April 2012. I had booked the ticket through the airlines website on 11 April 2012. During the booking the website prompted me to book for food on board at a discounted rate. The options availabel were Hote Non Veg Meals and Hot Veg Meals. I booked the Hot Non Veg Meals as the flight was at 1940 from Kochi reaching Chennai at 2040. I boarded the flight on 22 April 2012. The flight was late by 20 minutes. After half an hour into the flight the Flight attendants started the food service. They delivered a packet of snacks to me. When I pointed out that I had booked for hot non veg meals, the flight attendant told me that the airline ahs not airlifted any meals from Kochi and the same is not available. I asked him to refund ,my money but he said that he cannot do that anhe will inform the ground staff at Chennai for the refund. The flight landed at Chennai by 2100 hrs and I reached the ticketing counter at the departure terminal. The Spicejet employees there initially tried to convince me that the rate charged for the Hot Non Veg Meals and Snacks are the same and that I should have settled for the snacks. They also told me that the only airlift meals from Chennai to Ahmedabad (next leg of the flight). But I insisted on a refund because the website while booking had given me a choice of only Hot Non Veg or Veg Meals and not the Snacks option. Finally after 20minutes of arguing they started entering something into the office computer and after 10 minutes gave me a printout stating that the refund can only be given via the credit card through which the ticket was booked.

All throught he ordeal no one (except the flight Attendant) apologised for this deficient service. I had to spend an additional 30 minutes at the airport for an unfructuous transaction. And later on when I asked the airline for a refund and compensation,. they tole me that they will only give me a refund of the money paid and there will be no compensattion as this was a "One-off incident".

I am planning to take legal recourse to this situation. And if there is anybody out there who has been aggrieved in the similar manner , they may also join cause with me.
