[Resolved]  Tamilnadu Electricity Board — Poor and irresponsible answers from sithalapakkam EB office

Hi,

Past 3 months I am living in Sithalapakkam, Chennai with my family. This is rental house only. EB meter is not running there, so some of EB employee was visited here while the previous tenant was here and they charged maximum average units 250 Units. Because they were using so many electronic items. But now we don't using that much items, we are using only 2 fans, 3 tube lights, 1 TV, 1 Mixi and 1 Indention stove only. But they are charging the same now. So I called to my house owner and explained about this thing. Suddenly the house owner came to my home and collect the EB card from us to make a complaint. So I went with him to SIthalapakkam EB office (near to indra nagar bus stop) for make a complaint.

We went to there and made a complaint letter with our EB card photo copy, and gave it to Sithalapakkam EB office AE. He signed there and said to us give it to inside. And we gave it to inside. Really that EB employee (I don't know his name) answered to us lethargically and irresponsibly. He treated us like beggar. I have mentioned our conversation below. Please find it.

Me: Sir, when can we get a new meter or repaired meter.

EB Employee: It will take 6 months or 1 year, I don't know.

Me: Until how much we have to pay

EB Employee: You have to pay the same for 250 Units.

Me: Sir, we are tenant, the previous tenant using so many electrical items. So some of you visited there and charged maximum average, 250 units. But we don't using that much items. We are using only 2 fans, 3 tube lights, 1 TV, 1 Mixi and 1 Indention stove only. Though I paid last month for 250 units only, but now the rates are revised. If you will charge the same we will suffer and have to pay unwanted thing huge amount. So can one of you please visit again and change the average charge.

EB Employee: No, we can't. We don't have provision for changing.

Me: Then you said, meter changing or repairing it will take up to 1 year.

EB Employee: Yes, until you have to pay the same (for 250 units), We can take off the meter now itself. But we have to give the meter to KK nagar for repairing and it will take 6 months or 1 year, I don't know exactly.
