Tata Photon Plus — Bad connection speed and response from customer care at Tata Photon Plus

This was my first interaction with any of the Tata's services and this is the worst response I got, after a follow up (which I did) of atleast 20 times with their customer care executives and the network/technical people in Hyderabad.

I got my Tata connection activated on 15 Sep 2010 with Account no.[protected], and the speed I am getting while downloading any of the files, is not beyond 20kbps (that too in rare cases), reason -- they have not updated my speed for the new billing cycle again, (as this is the cap plan of till 10GB usage at 3.1mbps, though then as well the speed was never beyond 50kbps (in any case this is not even the 10% of what they claim), but after the change of the cycle they did not renew the speed again) and this speed is even worse than a Mobile Office low speed connection I have -- And these Tata guys are charging Rs1,100 for this sub standard speed and no proper customer attention.

I tried to register a complaint with the customer care people, but the guy did not register my complaint and ask me to wait for 6 hrs (thus, giving a false deadline). As expected nothing happened in that time and I called up again and the lady asked for the complaint no. (strange -- you do not register the complaint, give me time and while calling again, ask for the complaint no.). Anyways, I got it registered with the following complaint no.[protected]

After following up 'n' number of times and always getting some false deadlines, finally receive a mail saying the following:

"This is regarding your docket number[protected].
We regret to inform you that, we are unable to process your complaint within the time committed to you.
We shall take some more time to resolve the complaint"

Without stating the reason and mentioning the specifics of this "some more time" (leaving it open ended at their discretion of solving or in all probable cases not solving the issue), even after taking so much time already and assuring me of it to be done within the stipulated time, every time I called them (atleast they should have stated the facts, in case there were any, instead of lying blatantly). The clear problem as I figured (after speaking to all the executives and network people) is with their technical team in Hyderabad, which does not care to resolve customer issues.

The issue is still pending and they have done nothing in this matter (and this is my worst interaction with any of the customer care services ever)

Thanks for atleast replying back after so many calls and efforts. But please stop giving me false commitment and be honest in accepting if you cannot resolve this problem. If this is the top priority and express work, that nothing has happened and nobody took efforts in even calling me till now (even after 5 days of your posting this message), it is really sad. Would further request you guys to just state here if you cannot resolve the problem and I would never like to use any of the TATA products ever again.

Please let me know the time (yes the "exact time" instead of just mentioning that you are trying etc, because none of your network team guys, "the people actually responsible for this" has ever contacted me) as to when will this get resolved. For your information, my another new billing cycle is started and still the speed is real slow. This is my last request mail here and if the issue is not resolved in this week, please atleast send someone to take back your device or just call me to throw it. It is of no use for me to still sticking to this connection while paying my due bills on time.

Hope you TATA guys understand my situation and frustration, but at times the speed is so slow that to open google as well, it takes more than 30 secs, have tried using different browsers, laptops etc but of no use and you guys have not even thought of calling me, yesterday I again called your customer care executive (someone named Rupali) and she put me on hold for half an hour pretending to transfer the call to network team, but no one picked up there. If your network team does not want to resolve the problem just accept it. Anyways, this is my last attempt here before throwing away your connection/device. Attached is the link of the test I took on speedtest.net as referred by one of your executive. At the time when the speed should be the highest at night, its nowhere close to 3.1mbp as you claim (not even 10% of that), while as per my billing cycle and your executives etc, I should have got 3.1mbps during this time.

Still not received any assurance from you guys, and at tonight 2 AM, I am not able to access a site like google right now, and using my mobile office connection which is 1/10 of the cost you charge and 10 times the speed you give, even to write this message, it is really very shameful on the part of you TATA guys and your networking team (which is actually responsible for this slow speed -- btw would prefer to give the money in charity instead of paying the bill to you, that too uselessly). They do not call me up, give false assurances on this site and do everything but try solve my problem, would have preferred if you had solved my problem instead of writing "Greetings from Tata Indicom!"
So finally have decided to THROW AWAY THIS CONNECTION. Have just seen another connection at my colleagues' place which is 10 times better then you guys (wouldn't name that here, just to save you guys from slight more shame, anyways right now any of the decent connection is better than yours) . But have made up my mind to use that in future, so finally no more plight and you guys keep your connection. have thrown your device in the dustbin, if you have slight decency, you can disconnect and stop my connection right away.

Tata Photon Plus — Worst response from customer care

Dear Sir,
This is in concern with the response received from your customer care, regarding the speed issue of my tata photon broadband connection. I am using this service for my official purpose. And due to worst speed I am not able to connect to IBM network & so I have missed many official online meetings.
Also, I have taken this connection after getting confirmation of very high downloading speed of 160 to 200 kbps (my broadband plan is of 3.1 mbps) from tata photon outlet. And currently I am getting speed of 20 to 30 kbps.
As per the confirmation of high speed from tata photon outlet, our complete project team had bought this connection & now this is not at all worth.
After continuous follow-up with customer service for last 3 months, I am not getting any positive reply. So I am registering this complaint. And still if I won't see any positive reply from your side, I won't have any other option than going for some alternative. This change will be implemented in my complete team.
I hope as a TATA brand ethics, you will revert to this complaint on top priority.

Tata Photon Plus purchase was the biggest mistake I have done. They promise speed upto 3.1 MBPS and their executive confirms that the average speed will be 3 MBPS for sure, while selling the instrument. I took the plan for max speed and 10GB download limit. After connection I got 400 KBPS and called customer care, they said the speed is really low and unexpected and opened a call for technical assistance.

The tech people called and asked me the speed. Hearing it to be 400 kbps, their answer was funny to say the least " U r getting right speed sir. The average speed is 300kbps to 600 kbps, but no one gets more than 600 kbps. If only the speed is less than 300 kbps, then log a call". Asked Whythe speed is no where close to 3mbps as promised. The answer gets more funny " Speed varies on lot many factors sir, mainly the number of customers in your area. If its more, you will get less speed".

Means as Photon will earn more from more customers, the speed of each customer will die down, but payment remain the max. Great business... Carry on...

It is a rata type answer from TATA photon. I am also facing a similar problem. I lodge the complaint and within a week, I get e-mail that your ticket has been closed.

Not able to understand how this segment of TATA's is working. Someone need to drag them in MRTP court for unfair trade practices
