Tata Photon Plus — Poor Connection

I have been using a prepaid Tata Photon Plus data card for almost two years now. But the services have been terrible. The recharge is expensive but still does not live up to the claimed benefits. My photon plus number is [protected] and I get it recharged for Rs. 1000 every month which gives me 6 GB of bundled usage at a "good" speed. Earlier I used to get regular messages about my usage but those have stopped for the past some time, leaving me clueless about the usage (not that their messages are of much actual use anyway- the messages show erratic changes in the used amount, usually not even related to the actual usage by the consumer).
And it has been less than 10 days since I got it recharged this month, but the speed is terrible. So much so, that Youtube videos don't buffer and it is nearly impossible for images to load or webpages to open causing me to lose a lot of time trying to get some work done. There is no way the 6 GB has been used up. Due to the internet problem, I can't even complain on their website. There is usually no tab of the usage and no explanation for the speed or even the projected usage in their messages, when I call the customer care. The website is not helpful at all. There is no accountability for anything at all. VERY DISAPPOINTING.
It is a terrible TERRIBLE internet connection, and I would not advise anyone to get it. There is no redressal for any grievances and the customer care executives have no answers and are unapologetic about the VERY SLOW, POOR service.

Tata Photon Plus — Very erratic and slow speed

I am suffering for opting for a bad product. I am a subscriber of Tata Photon Plus of Chennai Circle. From the day one, I got the problem with low speeds and the only solution they can do is send a person and check the speed in speedtest.net. If the speed by the time that guy comes is okay, he will write down problem resolved and vanish. Again, the same day, I will be suffering from very low speed. So, I did not recharge it for more than 6 months.

Unfortunately, few days back, out of an urgent need, I recharged it again. The same day, at night, I got speeds as low as 30-50 kbps. Even my GPRS handset gives a decent speed. I called the customer care and they asked me to troubleshoot in the standard format. I did what all they said. Again, the speed remained the same. I filed a complaint. They promised to send a person to check. The person never turned up. Mornings, I get speed up to 800 kbps, but only for short durations and again it goes back to very bottom speeds.

Again after complaining, 2 days back, the guy turned up. He tested the speedtest.net and the speed that time showed 300 kbps. After some time, it showed 140 kbps. The guy called someone his boss and he told that there is some problem in speedtest.net and not reliable and told to check ndtv.com. If the videos run smoothly, then speed is okay. He checked and it ran somewhat okay with less buffering. He told speed is okay. He said maximum speed is 3.1 mbps, but the minimum is 300 kbps in Tata Photon. I told it is enough it get the minimum at least. For that, he told it will even go below 50 kbps and it is part of the game. What to say? I cried inside. I have spent around 10,000 so far. Device cost of 2,500 plus 5 recharges of 1500 or so and mostly the data was unused and expired without using. With 50 kbps speed, how on earth can I exhaust 5 GB in 30 days?

I kind of resolution I can expect from the company, I do not know. Their promises are taller, but backend infrastructure is very poor. They just market like anything, but they cannot deliver.
Again, it is me. My friend says always dont go for Tatas. They are known for their poor service and imperfect products. My friend bought a Tata Indigo CS car and it was very imperfect in all sense it seems. So, friends Beware of Tatas. I was a hardcore fan of Tata till few months back. When Tata launched GSM, i was among first get a connection. Even now I use Tata Docomo. Still, behind that feel-good image, there lies an inefficient management I I feel.
