Unitech Limited — Fixed deposit proceeds not received | |
I held a fixed deposit with Unitech limited which matured on 1st September 2011. I returned the FD certificate to Unitech 1 month back with instructions to return the complete amount (principal + interest). Strangely I just received a cheque for interest with no mention of principal amount anywhere. If you are reading this, please send me a cheque for the principal amount at the earliest as well. Everyone else, please don't even consider putting your money in Unitech's fixed deposit anymore. They never reply to your emails or phone calls. All I heard from them long back was that the principal would be sent back to me in next couple of days. After that, they never responded to any of my emails. Neither did they send me the principal.
I am definitely going to consumer court if I don't hear anything from them by next week.

To everyone who might be in a similar situation. I received the principal amount couple of days back after much followup through email with Unitech's FD dept. Overall, I am happy that I received my money back. At the same time, I will be cautious not to put any money in Real Estate companies anymore.

I am sure you will receive the principal amount from Unitech shortly. Unitech is into fixed deposits for more than 20-25 years. They have never let their investors down though there have been numerous ups and downs in the economy and sector. It is one of a rare company where intentions of promoters are pure. Have patience. At times delay happens due to technical problems. So I would suggest you to stay calm and you will receive our principal amount shortly.
