water filter — negligence / providing harmful material

we purchased a R.O water filter on 24-08-08 in varanasi.After completion of one year when I contacted the local city office for enquiry regarding the maintainance and other related charges.Today the technical staff visited our house and after measuring the T.D.S level of our supply ( which is 274) water informed us that we have been wrongly advised and are using wrong membrane filter which is advised for the areas having supply of water with T.D.S level more than 500.Unknowingly we have been consuming water without necessry level of required minerals.
Frankly speaking, I have been observing all the food and other articles consumed at our place very seriously as my father ( Mr.B.N.Singh) has recently suffered a massive electrolyte disbalance caused by the defeciency of minerals which further affected the brain leading to a life threatening disease of Dimensia.He is still on medicines related to neuro.
After discussing the entire matter to our referring medicos we came to know that consuming water below TDS level of 20(which our machine is giving) at the age of 72 for one year might have a vital say in this disease.
The technical staff said that we will have to immediately change the membrane.
I just want to ask one thing - A loyal customer family which has been using your products for nearly 20 years ( since our stay in Kolkata) using water filter,vacum cleaner etc.,why shall be treated like this?

*** This is the third time I am complaining. After previous official complain, for consecutive few days different people from the varanasi office visited our place and directly or indirectly advised us to change the filter and stop complaining because nothing will do. I chose to complain officially once again before I move to the court of Law.
