Sub: Unacceptable physical attack on me by Security of the Society & Continual Harassment from the Society Committee Members.

This is with reference to the unfortunate incident that happened on 4 August 2017 in the Society premises.

I would like to put on record the incident as stated below:
I regularly wash my Vehicle where I bring 1 bucket of water from the 5th floor down, further, if needed I take the required quantity of water from the tap near the water tank which i have been doing so since many years. Also when there is shortage of water supply I do not take water from the tap near the tank, I manage with less quantity of water that I bring from my house on the 5th floor or if there is acute water shortage I understand and do not wash the vehicle regularly.

Of recent, the Security posted at the Water Tank has been given instructions by the Society Committee to close the tap and not to allow usage of water. And whenever I go to take water from the tap (only the required quantity) the Security comes to close the water line of that particular tap and this has happened several times at different hours of the day. I would like to state not necessarily during the fixed water supply hours.

It has been observed by us that this same tap water is being used by several outsiders who come in the society to wash Society vehicles and for other reasons (we can observe all these activities from our own house which is facing the water tank area of the Society).

Yesterday 4 Aug 2017 when I went to the Security and firmly told him not to close the tap since I will need water to wash my vehicle he quoted (in Hindi) “it is my (security’s) wish what I want to do and whom I want to give water, if you (me) want water go to the Society office or go home and get my own water ” expressing in a way that he has power to do whatever he wants to and me as a Resident of the Society has no right to ask for water. To defy, he then brought a plier and closed the water line in front of me which I did not feel was correct and I wanted to stop him (he is wrongly quoting that I pushed him), I would like to state that I held his hand while he was closing the tap and pushed his hand away to stop him from closing the water line. This argument continued and we both abused each other. After which I stopped the argument and again informed him clearly and firmly that I need water and keep the line open. As soon as I turned to go away, this Security took a Metal Chair and hit me from behind, this further led to a physical fight between us.

This Security has dared to do this offensive act because he has a backing of the Society Committee Members.

This is for the reason that some of these Society Committee Members regularly sit near the Tank Area and drink Alcohol and use the Security for their personal work of buying Alcohol and eatables to accompany the same. These unauthorised activities of certain Society Committee Members in the public areas along with the support of Security and a few others who are also accompanied by them has encouraged the Security to behave in this manner.

Previous to this incident the Society Committee Members have been harassing me to park my commercial car outside the premises, which I have refused. They have issued a letter dated 16.01.2017 Ref/O/W/No.Jan/2017/496 falsely accusing me of parking 4 Commercial Cars in the Society premises – for information I have only one car which I have clearly stated to these Committee Members after which they realised their blunder of wrongly quoting me without making any inquiry and issuing letters based on their gossips!! This speaks a lot about how the Society Office is mis-functioning.

Before that only our particular house electricity line was being disconnected for long hours on several occasions at different times of the day as part of harassment. It was only recently that we took an action and went to the Society office to check the CCTV camera footage. On entering the Society office we clearly stated the time the electricity was cut off and the CCTV footage showed the Society Electrician entering the meter box area at the same exact time. Is this coincidence! Here again there is an involvement of the Society Committee Members to indirectly harass us.

We have been facing external wall leakage issues in our other flat of A-7 building wherein in the past we have submitted letters to the society for which no action has been taken from their end. Few months back, the Society Committee made sure that they issued a letter dated 8.12.2016 Ref. /O/W/No.Dec/2016/427 to us acting on some other flat owner’s leakage complaint. Their actions are biased to flat owners.

I am putting these incidents faced by us on record as these repeated incidences have endangered our lives in this Society.

I would also like to state that there are several issues that are deteriorating the condition and well-being of the Society like live electricity wires hanging and not been attended to, this endangers life of children playing in the society. External compound walls of the Society are cracked and almost collapsing and no action is being taken to repair and maintain the same. There is wasteful expenditure on beautifying the lobby entrances and lift duct areas (these areas can be covered during the painting of the building which is planned to be done later) rather than prioritising what is urgent and more essential. There are several floor tiles in the compound areas which have cracked broken and are not being replaced this causes danger to children and senior citizens of the society. Over the years they have increased the maintenance charges but reduced the number of Security Guards thus compromising on safety of members, reduced the number of lights in compound areas in the society which causes extreme difficulty for vision and safety standards in the night time (the builder had originally installed solar panels for compound area lights which were never maintained by the Society Office). This shows compete mismanagement of the funds of the Society by the existing Society Committee Members.

They have recently broken down most of the common toilets which are have been necessities for Security, Sweepers, Maids etc.

Here India is promoting Swatch Bharat Abhiyan, Go green, Solar Energy and our Society Committee Members are going in the opposite direction!

They issue vehicle parking stickers to anyone and have not maintained record of the vehicles for which they have issued stickers thus causing daily parking issues which can be easily resolved with proper management.

They allow all members to fix huge water tanks[protected] litres each) on external side walls of the building which is extremely dangerous for children playing in the compound areas and is devaluing the society. It would be a better solutions to have terrace water tanks installed for each respective building which will maintain better water consumption, maintain safety for the building structure and safer for the children paying around.

Over the years there have been several issues wherein the mismanagement of the Society Committee Members has hampered and deteriorated the well-being of the Society.

These Society Committee Member have been repeatedly re-elected (by their own manipulative ways) and are holding office terms since several years (probably from inception), this situation is causing them to over-power the residents of the society by their wrongful acts. They do not take productive suggestions of society members rather they manipulate their own terms and conditions which are not always in favour of the Society but to their own personal benefits.
