Dr Apj Abdul Kalam Technical University — Offline Examination despite conducting online exams and no option for online examination

Sir/Madam,

As a student of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (Lucknow), I would like to bring to your notice that University has decided to take odd semester exams in offline mode. But almost every student facing problems with this. Recently, more than 20 thousand students o[censored]niversity have filled a google form in which 96.8% of them opted for online exams. Problems faced by the students are as-

That,

1.There are many students in this university which numbers approximately 4 lacs from various parts and region of India. Many are from Kashmir, Bihar, Uttarakhand and also from other states who would have to travel more than 1000s of kms to reach the examination center which would obviously increase the risk of covid-19 infection.

2. Some colleges of AKTU are conducting offline internal exams, which would also increase the risk of covid-19 infection.

These internal exams are unnecessary because colleges have taken online exams, viva, quizzes already. These offline internal exams are also taking our important time, which would be beneficial for us to prepare for university examinations.

3. For the purpose of examination, the students will have to take hotels or hostels for many days as they are already in their respective home towns and have left the hostels or their rental accomodations. And all this will be very expensive for them.

4. Having thousands of students at the examination center is not a suggested step amidst the covid-19 which is still not ended and the fear for infection is always there. Even our parents and the guardians are very much afraid about that.

5. Various Universities in India ie. Punjab University, Amity University, Delhi Unviersity and even IIT's and NIT's are taking online exams. So the decision to taking offline exams by AKTU is not good.

6. Due to the covid-19 effect, the students neither have books nor any resources to prepare for the offline exams. University is also not giving any relief in syllabus, timing or marking in offline examination.

7.Many students will use public transport daily to reach their exam center from their hometown and anyone of them might get infected with covid-19 on the way.

8. By conducting offline exams university risking our health and lifves as we all are aware of the situation due to covid-19 and even the new strain of covid-19.

9. The whole NCR area is affected by farmer's protest currently.

10. We have to do Industrial Trainings or Internships after this semester, many students of 3rd and 4th year will also prepare for placements, some are preparing for competitive exams like GATE, UPSC etc. So we shall have to face great difficulties if next semester is not started as soon as possible.

We request you to ask the university to conduct examination through online medium. Or give a option of offline and online both.

Thank you.
