Subject : monopoly of the cable operator leads to harrasment of customers - complaint against fastway transmission pvt. Ltd. Ludhiana, punjab and m/s oriental cable network, sco 284, sector 32-d, chandigarh/ the local cable operator Dear sir The govt. (Trai) should see that the monopoly of the cable operator leads to harrasment of customers. So the govt should break the monopoly of the cable operators and may allow more than one cable operators in all areas to avoid harassment by the single cable operator. You can see licentious behaviour of the cable operators in my case. My issue which is pendent since nov.2018 has not been resolved till date by m/s fastway transmissions private limited, ludhiana, punjab. The issue is as under: My issue started with cable connection not working (Poor signal or no signal) from the last week of nov. 2018. Local cable operator of fastway took advance subscription fee for the month of december 2018. But signal was totally not working from 2nd week to 4th week of dec 2018 before that signal was very poor. Realising their fault, no one from local cable operator office came at my place to collect subscription fee in the month of january. Local cable operator impended that they will not refund/adjust the fee of the month of dec 2018 and pressurise me that i have to pay fee for the period the cable was not working to get the cable signal restored. Reason for this is monopoly of fastway and i am unable to change the cable operator as there is only one cable operator in the area. I observed that they are doing such illegal activities so freely as if no one will take action against them. For the non-operative cable period fastway is not liable to charge subscription fee and should have refunded or adjusted the subscription fee received by it in advance Then i repeatedly made telephonic complaints from 4-12-18 onwards at fastway toll free no. [protected]. Every time i was told that the cable connection will be repaired within 4-6 hours but the cable was not repaired by fastway/local operator till second week of january 2019 (For about one month). I also made repeated complaints at fastway email [protected]@fastway.in from dated 4-1-19 onwards. At the end of 2nd week of january the cable connection was restored. But again after about 10 days time the cable signal was cut off by fastway/local operator without intimating any reason. Till date the cable signal has not been restored by fastway. When i inquired from fastway customer care ludhiana, i was told to contact local operator. The local operator when contacted impended that they will not refund/ adjust the advance fee taken by them in the month of dec 2018 and revealed that i have to pay fee for the period the cable was not working to get the cable restored. Which is illegal and unethical practice adopted by fastway in collusion with local cable operator. This is a routine practice adopted by the fastway in collusion with local operator that if the cable connection is not repaired by them in time (Even for 45 days as in my case) they do not adjust the advance monthly subscription fee taken by them against the period for which the cable is not working. Generally what happens is that if the cable connection is not repaired by fastway or local cable operator within the stipulated time set by trai and in case customer ask the customer care fastway /local operator to adjust the fee, instead of adjusting the fee, the cable signal is disconnected. The customer in order to avoid harassment of the family for continually remaining without tv, under duress has to pay the fee for the period cable connection was not repaired. Fastway work in collusion with local cable operator for unethical money gains by taking advantage of subscriber’s psychological distress that the family have to remain without tv for days together. Now in my case unless i pay the fee for the period the cable remained out of service, only then the fastway /local operator will restore my cable signal. Which is an unethical means of collecting money from the cable subscriber. Previous year also a problem emerged due to fault of local operator for not collecting the subscription fee and thereby the cable signal was disconnected for the months of jan, feb, and march 2018 and moreover the local cable operator m/s oriental cable network, sco 284, sector 32-d, chandigarh issued me a forged receipt for the months of jan.2018 and march 2018. Later on local operator accepted its fault and restored the signal. I was assured by local cable operator at that time to take my complaint back and the mistake will not be repeated in future but they are repeating the same kind of act now. The main reason behind such licentious behaviour of fastway transmission pvt. Ltd. And its local cable operators is it monopoly in chandigarh. There is no other cable service provider in my area so the customer has no choice for changing the cable service provider. Dths do not provide some local channels. So i cannot shift to dth. Monolopy of the cable operator leads to harrasment of customers as in my case. So the govt. (Trai) should allow more than one cable operators to avoid harassment by the single cable operator. I am continuously lodging complaints to fastway transmission pvt. Ltd at its land line numbers, and email but the complaint is not resolved. Was this information helpful? | |||
