I purchased my Ford Figo 1.4 TDCi Titanium variant for a little over â¹7 Lakh in June of 2013. After about 50K kms I started feeling the power drop in the low rpm band. During my services with Metro Ford in Bangalore, I had informed the service engineers about this issue multiple times but they would just top up oil and then give me advise on tyre pressure and then send me on my way. After Metro Ford closed down I had no choice but to take the car to the next closest service CENTER Cauvery Ford which is a few kilometres from my house. By this time I had to get the window runners replaced due to corrosion and the mechanic who attempted to remove the window runners used a screwdriver against the edge of the doors and scratched off the paint. When I complained they gave me a very small discount on the overall service bill. This is the quality of service I started receiving from Cauvery Ford in Geddalahalli. Now back to the injector issue- At approx 85000kms I started hearing a very obvious knocking sound which I enquired about at a Bosch service centre in my locality. They immediately identified it as an injector issue and advised an injector service at a reputed inject service centre.
I took the car to Trinity Diesels in Yelahanka to ### the problem and when they opened the injectors to service them they told me that 3 out of the 4 injectors are failing and only injector number 2 was working as it should. The problem was excessive backflow of diesel (approx 6.5 to 7ml). It should be between 3.5 and 4ml. The service engineers at Trinity Diesels informed me that this is a typical problem with Figo and Fiesta Models of 2010 to 2012 and the main issue is the poor quality of the Continental injectors.
The Sevice Manager of Cauvery Ford (Geddalahalli) decides to pin the blame on the quality of Diesel I use. Like as if I am going to some third rated fuel station to fill substandard diesel for cheap. I have been fueling my car at only Shell Stations.
This same gentleman is also behaving like as if I'm asking him to replace the injectors at his cost while all along I have been requesting Ford India to address this issue from their end and they are unnecessarily dragging a local sevice CENTER into the picture. Basically Cauvery Ford has nothing to lose whether Ford agrees to replace the injectors or not. Even one of the engineers at this service CENTER is very aware of these issues with the continental injectors for these models. When I questioned the Service Manager about all the other brand cars using the same diesel without such problems, he says " I don't know about the other brand cars..."
If this has been a common problem of failing injectors since Ford has used substandard parts from suppliers like continental, Ford is supposed to issue an advisory to recall and replace these parts free of cost. But they have not done so.
It's no surprise they have packed up and left the country. For now I have serviced my injectors and am using the car but the knocking sound still seems to be their albeit at a reduced volume. I don't know how long the injectors will last in this condition.
I want FORD INDIA to accept their mistake and replace these injectors at their cost. A CUSTOMER should not be asked to bear an expense of nearly â¹60K to replace faulty injectors because the company was too cheap to incorporate better quality of parts. Was this information helpful? |
